hi just wanting to know if it is at all possible to use an expansion card (like a mediator or summit) in an atx case with an a1200 ?
-
Not without extensive modifications to the case.

Extensive mods on case means:
1. You must have sufficient space inside to 1200 MB, plus Acelerator, plus mediator or G-REX;
2. Think 3D! Not only 2D. A Mediator board fits over 1200 MB. Daughter boards fits over Mediator;
3. You have skills and machines? Good! Will need a lot!
4. Cut off the backplate of the ATX case. Mount the 1200/acel/Mediator/daughterboards over a clean workbench (a desk, not the OS!). Make a paper card mold of the new backplate;
5. Make the new backplate from the mold. For better work, use the original backplate PCI holders;
6. Nail the new backplate in case, then start the assembly.
Have fun and be a good boy :angel:

Keep us posted on the progress. I'm about to pull the same stunt with an A4000D.

IT IS possible, but as everybody says you could carefoully choice your case. I built my 1200 in an atx tower, so go for it.

A cool tip (another).
The MINIMAL dimensions (internals):
- length 480 mm, more, better (18.9 in)
- width 200 mm, more, better (7.9 in)
- height 437 mm, more, better (17.2 in)
