HI,
I have one of the kickstart roms from my old A1200, I was wondering if I can use it on the A500 computer, or is there a special version of 3.0 kickstart that must be used? I know there is a 3.0 chip for the amiga 500, but I dont know if there is any difference between the 1200 and the 500 chip besides that the 1200 needs 2 roms

You need a special A500/A2000 ROM.
A1200 rom requires at least 020+ and it has some special code in it that will b0rk on A500.

Can you count? The A1200 has 2 ROM chips, and needs them both. This is because the 1200 has a 32-bit data bus, as opposed to the A500's 16-bit, so they needed the second ROM in order to work with the system's bus. If you plugged one of them into the 500, you'd have majorly corrupt data, as the second double of the word would be missing from every read.
The euivelent is if someone tore out every other page of a book.

No problems, if you are a lucky owner of Micronik ZorroII busboard for A500, it has room for KS 1.x, 2.x and double 3.x chips and a switch:) But as mine has a switcher already in the
mobo ROM socket with 2.05 and 3.1, I never tested
the Micronik alternative
