C'mon commodore 64 second edition rare go here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200076208236&rd=1&rd=1) now!!! :-D :-)
-
Go on ave a bid!! :-D
-
What's so rare about it?
-
Maybe because it's made by "COMMMODORE"?
:-D
Pete
-
Its a Commodore 64-C its shaped like a amiga look on the box of it!!
-
so, you're the high bidder and want someone else to buy it so that you won't have to pay ?
-
Who are you trying to kid here? C64C is not rare. Millions were sold.
-
i'm not the high bidder my ebay is gwion_AMIGA2006
-
Rare indeed.. Wasnt this the c64 version that had been produced most of?? I had this exact one, so did all of my friends... The current bid is not bad though.. :)
-
@tomas
I was about to say something similar, looks exactly like my old c64
Andy
-
So is anyone going to bid?
-
This is the common one, the other one is the rare one. And, it's not really meant to look like an Amiga so much as it is meant to look like a C128, and so is the A500.
We used to call this the C64 and the other one the D64.
D64 is Dinosaur 64.
-
Why is it called the commodore 64-C then?
-
There was sone reason for it, don't remember what it was..
-
A brief history of the C64 - C64C (http://www.mobygames.com/featured_article/feature,23/section,150/)
-
So this is not your auction and you're not bidding. Why should we bid then?
-
wow its rare man...i have 1 lying in the corner in my room
i liked the older shape more as this 1
-
I went through the trouble of putting my original C64C in a C64 case because I liked the smaller, taller case a lot better. The C64C took up too much space, it was awkward.
-
The computer is not rare neither are the peripherals going with it. What is kind of rare, or uncommon, is the box it is in. White C64c's in their original box are uncommon. Yellowed beaten up C64c are common as mud.
-
But, but, but.... if it sais "RARE" on ebay then it must be truely a rare item worth bidding extra hard on! It's not like it's the best selling computer of all time with millions uppon millions of sold machines... ow wait... nevermind.
-
Its not my C=64 its my friends C=64 and can someone just bid as he wants £15 for the thing at least!! Thats including P&P thats worth it dont you think
-
He should do a car boot sale. Someone would probably drop 20 pounds and he wouldn't have to pay ebay fees.
-
if anything is rare in this auction, it is the box and thats pretty much it.... the c64c is not....

Oh i've got 5 of these with boxes!!
-
@ Gwion
That's funny because I can't find a user by the name of gwion_AMIGA2006.
Looks like you have bid on your friend's auction with the sole purpose of bidding up the price.
I could be wrong of course, and if I am, I apologise.
-
Yeah I find it very suspicious too...
Edit:
Well not really...:
http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27104
Here you say you won an auction and guess what user won the auction according to ebay?
You lying #$&^...
-
If it's not a french edition, it's not rare
-
looks very rare to me... i'd put it back in the oven a bit longer. mmm... stringy like pizza.
-
@Gwion
Take this rarity over to http://amigaworld.net
They love this stuff!
-
@flashlab
Good work!
It's fortunate that most people with dubious morals are a bit stupid.
-
Maybe I'm missing something. I wonder what the actual computer looks like. I mean all I see is a box and stuff that came with the computer. I had a Commodore 64C and loved it. . . back in 1987.
-
@flashlab
seems like shill bidding to me. against the ebay rules.

Not as stupid as the person who has bought a C64 cardboard box.
I'd never buy anything that isn't shown in the photo.
-
Would you buy a cardboard box with a big X painted on it if it said it was an XBox? People did..

Me?
I think my last post tells you.
-
so, trying to shill on a.org, that's very naughty :(
oh, and I have one of these rare generic c64s with the two rare generic joysticks and a rare generic cassette unit, I also have the rare compilation games that are included in this box made of genuine rare 1980's cardboard.
wow, I should sell it on ebay and get someone to come on here and say "hey, bid like £1,000 its rare!"
still, not the worst shilling I've seen, that involved an auction price being increased by 500%
-
Ah Happy Days.
I bought one of these as I was a late arrival to the C64 scene. I got it with a 1541-II disk drive, MPS-801 printer and a copy of Mini Office II. I really thought I'd 'arrived' when I set it all up. Power computing.
Parents used to ban me from printing anything after 9pm. Boy was that a noisy printer.
Oh and hardly rare ;)
-
I have something more rare. I have two perfect condition Stereo Commodore 64's(6 voice stereo). I made the boards right after Sid Stereo player 10.3 came out. I should put them on ebay. Haha..I bet they are rarer then a 64c.. :-D
-
To add my ten penneth-worth ...
As most people have already said, the C64-C was the most common machine produced for the UK market, making the original shape (often referred to as a "Bull Nose"). I think it was after the release of the desktop version of the 128 (128D) so that it was uniform.
I think the keyboard is much nicer on the original - it is more tactile. Well, mine is anyway. I sold my C64-C (which funnily enough was exactly the same pack as the one on the link at the beginning of this thread!). I had no reason to keep it and got rid of it for about £20.
Rare? No. Collectible? Well, it depends on how much you like to collect Commodore kit.

@flashlab

-
Its a ten a penny C64, no more no less.
Now if it was made of Gold then yes....... but hmmmm no it isnt.
Mike.
-
I have 2 of the 64C's, 1 of which is my alter-ego retro gaming machine so as others have already pointed out, hardly rare. Would you also want us to bid on your football/soccer shirts as well?
2 hopes ... Bob Hope and NO HOPE! :-)
-
So, on a more interesting note, how did gizmo350 do a blank post :-?
