Hallo to everybody!
I have bought a "new" Amiga 1200 and I am upgrading her!
Now she has kick 3.1, Blizzard 1230+copro/50 + 64 Mb...
I wanted obviously to add an HD and I found out an old 20 Gb from a PC laptop... :-)
I have OS3.1 (not a CD drive yet to use OS3.9 or OS3.5) and it sees the HD but does not recognize it!!! :-?
So I cannot install the OS on the HD... is it normal with such a big HD? :-?
I have been told it would be possible with a primary partition of no more than 4 Gb... for me would be more than enough... :-P
is this true? Or for example it's possible only with newer OS? :madashell:
Thank you and ciao

Sorry... wrong area... I pushed the wrong button...

Here are your options:
1: Set up the drive so it only has one 4G partition, and away you go. Actually stay well under 4G to be safe.
2: Get PFS3. This is by far the best option!
3: Upgrade to OS3.9. But, even if you do this, you're still best of getting PFS3!

It should be possible to use that HD with your setup, but the limit for all partitions are that they have to be under TWO (2) gigabytes each and overall usage of the HD must be under FOUR (4) gigabytes.
So DON'T MAKE that 4G partition now. Good way to make things go well is to ALWAYS MAKE BOOT PARTITION UNDER 2G!
When you use HDToolBox to recognize and partition the HD you may see wrong total size of the HD in the info window (where you can push the "read from hd" button), but that doesn't matter. Just initialize the HD and then partition it.

THANK YOU TO BOTH OF YOU!!!
I had for year an A1000 so the A1200 is quite new! :)))
Now it seems the HD works... I will look for new file system to use larger partitions...
Ciao, Flavio
