Title: Monitors
Post by: jahc on June 05, 2003, 01:30:29 PM
Just got a scan doubler for my A1200. It works nice. :) Just have a few questions regarding monitors.. my 17" seems to have different settings for different screenmodes. if I'm running 800x600, and its slightly off centre, I can adjust it.. and when I change to a different screenmode, I can adjust that to how I like it.. and it doesnt affect the settings for other screenmodes. Is that what they call a "digital" monitor? I'm going to hunt for a cheap second hand monitor for the A1200 you see, and it would be good if I could setup my WB screenmode settings nice, and have a good setting for graphics demos/games... so I wouldnt have to readjust things all the time..

I think Picasso96 or CGFX is the thing for you...

They can set the screenmodes and configure the monitor...

If you have a gfx-card of course :-)
But I guess you have one already to use 800x600...

@jahc:

Yeah, that is a monitor which can remember the settings digitally. Just about all monitors manufactured the last 5 years should be able to do this. Many older monitors, like my NEC from 93 can also do this, though you can only set the geometry for different screenmodes with it, the brightness and contrast are the same for all screenmodes.

There is a very easy way to see if a monitor lacks this capability. If it has ordinary analogous wheels for every setting it cant remember different settings for different screenmodes.. like the Amiga M1438S monitor for example.
