'Tis -22C(-8F) here right now. Why do I have Spring Fever?
-
Winter? Pah!
It got to 31.1°C here outside today (summer, no wind, no clouds!)
I'll trade you some of the heat here for some of your cooler temperatures! EDIT: but not too much, -22 is REALLY cold!!!

Bah, got to 38°C in Melbourne today and my cars ambient temp gauge read 41°C further north, I'm looking forward to winter...
-
Heh! Anything above 30°C is too hot for me!
Then again, I come from the UK where summers are grey and wet!
- Ali
-
Any time it's anything between 4C and 44C I am very content. Except of course, it's always windy when it's cold, and there's never a breeze when it's hot.
It was -30C this morning.. It's not to where I'm hurting, but I'm not exactly enjoying it either. Can't complain too much. We've been spoiled with a few mild winters.

Pregnant? ;-)
-
Umm... I've always believed that to be highly unlikely. I hope that's true!
-
It got to -6C here earlier, and we're due snow overnight for the first time this winter....
-
Snooow! I like snow!!! We don't get it in Nelson but plenty usually falls on the nearby mountains. Last year's winter minimum was either 0°C or -1°C, but due to NZ's draughty old houses with no central heating or double glazing, and some with no insulation, it can feel more like -20°C!
31.3°C here today, another hot one! 28.8°C in my home office at the moment... One of the PCs doesn't like it and the BIOS temperature alarm keeps going off!
- Ali
-
Looking out the window, it must've snowed overnight here. It's that or a really heavy frost, and therein lies the rub. If it's going to snow, it should really snow. All this half-arsed "snowfall" does is have me bricking it riding into work.
-
I used to love snow, not the horrible gritty grey mush we seem to get now.
The merest sniff of snow in the UK brings chaos as no-one here can drive in the stuff. If it snows tonight I'm cycling tomorrow!
-
all we need is a milimeter of snow here and the whole county shuts down. reason being nobody in georgia seems to know how to drive when it snows. snow is such a rarity here where i am.
-
By me, when it snows 2cm, they pour down 4cm of salt, long political story. The result is that plant life on the sides of the road dies, my cars rot, and the roads are sloppy and slippery.
-
We're supposed to get a good blast of snow tonight. That'll be tomorrows journey into work totally ballsed up :-D
-

Time to break out the thick warm wooly socks ey?

Back to the simple pleasures in life...
In fact, that's just how that particular topic started, IIRC!

Matthew Parsons has a *lot* to answer for! ;-)
/Admittedly it´s a cheap(thrill?) way of warming oneself up.

so its not just the UK then !
yesterday we had a letter through the kids that Dudley MBC were shutting all the schools today cos of a 90% CHANCE of snow ! expected 6" got about err a twelfth that ! schools are still shut though.
-oh - its just about stopped snowing in the black country...

God I love Snow!
Here's what greeted me this morning:

...and when I arrived at the University:
Much fun was had doing reverse handbrake turns on an empty bit of the uni car park (http://www.ridingarizona.com/forum/uploaded/flipper/2006714122910_thumbs_up_smiley.gif)
I did of course also have to drive through every single bit of untouched snow on the entire campus ;-)
-
You drive a Dolly! Cool!
-
I drive a 2CV6, a Dolly is a different model ;)

Well there was no snow in the end but I noticed you were still late this morning :-P
Still also I noticed that everybody seemed to be driving as if there was a blizzard!

Hmmm... how to put this delicately?
You know what all boys do, that thing that some girls pretend they don´t do?
Well, for a certain member here it involves recycling an old sock for ¨storage¨ purposes. ;-)

Break wind? How do you store that in a sock?

Hopefully not one of these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sock_puppet)! :-o

@InTheSand
Nah, I think these (http://hockeyamerica.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=H&Product_Code=Mens-Extra-Long-Socks) are more suitable
BTW, just noticed on that page there's a section called 'Performance Socks'..:-?
Maybe it's a spin off from the latest crap from MTV , 'Pimp my socks'
-
Getting back on topic...
What a let down, I was looking forward to 6" of snow and having the day off.
The news kept on and on about it all yesterday, I'd even planned what to do for the day.(Yes, I should know by now that if it's hyped on the news then it aint gonna happen)
Woke up, looked outta the window.. little bit of snow, and the roads were fine
Said a few words of anglo-saxon origin, realised I had 10 mins to do the 20 mile journey to work and said a few more. Got to work 15 mins late, my boss' first words were "I tried to call you on your mobile to say not to bother coming in today" :madashell:

The only time I heard the word used was when some of the web guys were talking about replacing the ASP based intranet because "ASP is wank".

I think it'd be an impact like a meteor if all those billion muslims would have been fallen from the sky. ;-)

Is it me, or did that lose something in translation?
:-D
-
@Karlos,
Just saw your new avatar, and thought to myself "Why has he changed it to a piccy of Michael Schumacher having a fag?"
..and then the penny dropped!
-
Well I lampooned Blair and Bush to death, why not Cameron?
-
Karlos wrote:

Nope, but I was a thought too far.
As usual...
-
Was it the implication of "not all muslims are angels" or something? :-D
-
something along those lines indeed :-D
-
Ahem
I hate to think we've burst a bubble of innocence with our debased and corrupting ways... I mean, come on chaps.
@Odin
Your post had me ROTFL - cheers for that pal!
@Everyone (save poor Mel zoom)
One is staggered at the ability to pay homage to the "sock" in every thread.

"For sure, I had a werry quick lap and it's all due to the mechanics, for sure, so I rolled into the pits and er, rolled one up. For sure. Maaaaaaaaaan".
-
"Michael, 24mins is quite a slow laptime for Silverstone, did you have transmission problems?"
"No, I was half way down hangar straight when I got ze munchies und had to pop to ze nearest Esso garage, then I sat there watching all ze pretty little lights on my steerink wheel"

So, Schumacher is Cameron hopped up on weed, eh?
There is a certain resemblance, I must say...

Not me, another well known gentlemen member of the board. He revealed how one day he rediscovered a sock he'd abused relentlessly in his adolescence.
Suffice to say, it triggered a cascade of jokes, thread hijacking and generally gave many of us injuries from laughter.
