They don't surface frequently on ebay. I got the last one that I know of and that was about 6 months ago.

GVP A530 = Best A500 addon ever made.  Only two complaints about it are you can't access the hard drive or the extra RAM when you switch the 68030 back to the 68000 to run older software from your hard drive, and the hard drive controller is not totally compatible with other SCSI controllers, so if you setup a hard drive on another machine and wanted to transfer it to the A530, it probably won't be recognized and vice versa if you want to transfer the A530 hard drive to another Amiga with a different SCSI controller.

Good luck finding one.  If it is on eBay, it will probably go up alot in the bidding and you will have to pay a high price to win.

Why do you not MAKE your own IDE controller?

It's not a big project, is cheap and you will have a modern hardware.   :-D

Surelly is! Works even with a hd and a CD-ROM! But don't expect high transfer rates.... :-(

For using a cd you'll need 3.1 ROM, of course.

I recommend ebay too. I bougth my m-tec 68030 board on it. OK, this is the slowest 68030 turbo card made for the a500 i think. It's only 14MHz, and you can overclock the fpu only, but compared to a plain a500 it is lightyears before it.
However the gvp cards has it own backwards too, they only work for its own gvp memory modules. So beware, you buy only with memory, else i think you will never find any of these modules.

Wouldn't a CD work with a 2.x ROM and the relevant CD filing system?

Great that you've built the interface though! Any pictures?

Maybe you are right: but with a 37xxx ROM you couldn't boot from CD.

Yep, I done this nice hack. No pics: I f***ed my camera. :-(

You are a luck guy, indeed!

I have to disagree. The best A500 addon was the Viper/E-Matrix 530.

Internal, 128Mbyte RAM, 50MHz 030 with IDE AND SCSI!

Can anyone tell me if the homebrew IDE interface that was mentioned and linked, would work on a 1000?

From what I saw of it, it seemed like it was for the side connector.

wouldn't really care about slow transfer rates, I'm sure it would be faster then going thru the serial or parallel ports.

It would only run a harddrive.
