Pop over to Ebay and buy a Amiga compatible monitor and connecing lead.

Ebay member airey36 usually has 1 or 2 ... if not, ask him because he might have some not yet listed :-)

Then I'm leaning towards a faulty monitor ... could be wrong though.

Can you test the A1200 on a tv?

hmmm sounds like the A1200 is biting the big one ... time for a scout around for a replacement.

Again, ebay would be your best bet.

I've not the experience for such a task ... I personally would just go hunt out a working A1200

Just a thought ...

If you can manage to get into Workbench, you might want to check you're in the right screenmode and not some custom or interlace mode which might also be a cause of the problem.

Chances are then, Workbench is in the wrong screenmode for the genuine monitor.

Have a read on the original specifications for the 1084s (which I presume you have going by previous posts) here:

@ jimbob005 ...

Hi Jimbob005

Have you sorted out your A1200 problem yet?  If not I might be able to help, depending on where you are.  I bought a towered A1200 from someone on ebay last year and when it arrived they had not packed it properly and the case was all messed up.  I planned to re-build it as an on-going project but I have another towered machine anyway so abandoned the idea.  The thing is, I still have it and you are welcome to the 1200's main board if it is any good to you?  Just the cost of the postage would be required.
Let me know what you think. I'm in Sussex, UK.
Regards
Retromania

Just get a rgb2scart lead or a a500 tv modulator. Scart cable will give you much better picture quality than the composite out anyways.
And i am sure the a1200 can be fixed if you know someone with a bit of electronic skills.

@ Jimbob005

Hi Fella - Doncaster eh? My Uncle lives there, near the race course.
Anyway, I don't want anything for the 1200 board - you are welcome to it if it is of use to you.  Postage-wise, I don't know what it would cost, so, the best thing I can think of is, if you want it send me a PM with your address - I will pack the board up and get it weighed and then let you know how much to send me.  Shouldn't be more than a fiver if that!
Cheers
