Title: My Amiga CD32 has arrived!!!
Post by: tasmanian on February 02, 2007, 07:40:47 AM
Well I finally had time to pick it up today.

My Amiga CD32 (I haven't been an Amiga owner since about 1995) so I'm back!

I have won on ebay an Amiga 2000 keyboard as well (which should come next week).

So proud to be an Amiga owner again (even if it a console).

I got ten games with it, however want to expand my collection.  I know piracy partly killed the Amiga..but is there any harm on copying games for this ancient console?

I have seen on the relevant sites you can get 200 games on 1 CD and another site that has every CD32 ever released.

I do take pride in having originals, eg I have 60 original Xbox games, 10 Xbox 360 games, 12 Nintendo Gamecube & Wii games but don't want to spend money on ancient games to make it legal...do people agree or disagree (especially since some of the stupid prices some of the games are going for on ebay).

So once again I'm a true Amiga Fan, owning a consolized Amiga :-)

I don't care, at least. The alternative to copying them is to buy them second hand. The game developers and publishers don't get any more money from that.

I got the 200 collection, the 350, the 444 and the 888, plus 40-50 copied games when I bought one of my CD32s.

If you want to support the Amiga as a software platform, you should rather buy software which is still being updated.
Just my 8 cents, of course.  :-)

Congrats and welcome back to the fold of Amiga hardware owners!!!

I presume you know that you'll need a (very basic) adapter to be able to use the A2000 keyboard with your CD32?

Well I have the 200, 350, 444 and the 888 plus 10 original CD32 games (some that are even still shrink wrapped) which makes me wonder what the guy off ebay did with his Amiga CD32.

My main worry now that it will die in a year or two...are the CD lens standard does anyone know.

God there were some great games on the Amiga, Deluxe Galaga is so addictive, Super Skidmarks and Banshee are great!!!

Makes you wonder why any of the publishers haven't decided to make them available for the Wii Virtual console or Xbox Live arcade service, I'm sure they'd sell a few!

Get the originals - hunt down the killer apps and your collection will act as an investment should you wish to sell it for a nice profit later on.

Copies are worthless when resold and don't have the instructions and cool boxes.

Next games on your list: Super Stardust & Kid Chaos.

:-D

Maybe this has been driven into the ground.
I wonder if Dennis could add a cd rom to minimig and then a CD32 Rom.

Oops need AGA

No harm in CDTV (A500) compatibility I suppose...

I was just thinking now, AGA came in handy for that VideoCD module for the CD32. Surely an ECS machine wouldn't have been able to display all the colours... or did the custom chips get bypassed in some way.

Do CD32 VideoCDs get played in HAM8?

:inquisitive:

No the FMV do not get played in HAM8

All the video is handled by the FMV unit (which is why it cost so much at the time).

The graphics from the CD32 though could be overlayed on top of full motion video with the FMV unit installed.

Hope this makes sense.. and yes I'm still enjoying my purchase especially with the great compiliations that are out there!
