However, postage to CA coupled with the strong pound against the weak dollar would probably push the total cost over $400 which is too high for me. If I was still in the UK however, I'd probably take you up on your offer.

I did send a message to 'Dragonlady' and she claimed that she has already sold one of her 'warranty' 1200s at $699. I suspect that's an untruth but if not, I want to know who paid that much as I have a bridge I'd like to sell them.

You are nuts! I would rather pay $275 USD for one that was opened once by the store owner than to pay $700 USD for one that was never opened.

Not rare and not even the 'first edition' model. Hardly worth paying $500 more for the honour of opening the box. If you are not going to open the box then it's a brick. If you do open the box and it doesn't work then it's also a brick.

A sealed Amiga 1000? I would say that would be more like it, being the first Amiga and all, but this?

Still more power to the seller as they found someone foolish enough to pay and that means inflated prices for everyone else.
