Post by: Gwion on January 19, 2007, 01:25:41 PM
Can someone tell my why it says a100 on the bottom of my cd32. Its the same sort of label as the a1200 that says a1200 :-?

@Gwion

It seems to be an old code-name (or original name) for the machine before it was called CD32, like the A600 was originally called the A300.

If you have enough RAM it would, but the standard 2MB isn't enough. I think you need to add at least 4MB of FAST RAM to make it work which I believe is not easy in a CD32.

Doesn't sound right to me. I guess you need one of the expansion modules with hard drive /keyboard /floppy connections. Any advance on this ? As far as I know you need to install those CD's on a hard drive and you need a certain processor ???
Do you have this ?

I dont have any expansions as they are rare to find.
but will it just load workbench like a normal amiga without instaling it?
Or is there a special workbench cd for it?

Hiya mate, it shouldn`t boot from cd, it was never designed that way, same as any other cd based amiga os.

You would have to buy an SX-1 expansion for it ir similair, to provide expansion for mem, then install a harddrive to allow acces of the start up sequence.

You could burn a start up sequence on to a cd, and set it up assigns as you would an old cdtv disk on kick 1.3.

So yes you could run os3.9 on a cd32, but you need expanded mem and a hard drive, or create youre own version of os3.9 with a start up sequence with assigns for the directorys etc.

Cheers the Muckster  :inquisitive:

If you're just using stock CD32 hardware, you're really not missing much by running 3.1.

3.9 requires a CPU upgrade, RAM upgrade, a hard drive and an RTG graphics card before it becomes worthwhile...

So don't worry about it!
