Hello all, finally, after being Amigaless for the last 10+ years, I now have a 1000.
My first was a 1200, then I picked up a few of 2000's, and a 4000 with a video toaster in it. But as life goes, I haven't had them since about 95.
Been really wanting to get another amiga for awhile. While emulation is cool and all, it's not the same. So when I saw a 1000 system for sale, and I had enough money for it, I went for it.
I got the 1000, keyboard, mouse, 1080 monitor, 1010 external drive, 256kb front expansionm, and a battery clock that plugs into 1 of the 2 ports. I think it's the parallel port, but it says it can't find the clock when it boots, so i think the battery is dead. Haven't found a 2532 battery yet though...
I don't have the disks I used to have, they been long since converted to the adf format. Which sucks, since I don't a scsi addon card.
anyways, thats whats up with my Amiga stuff.

Welcome back! And spread the word!! :)
Just wanted to whole-heartedly agree: emulation is cool and all, btut it just ain't the same! Amen!
Finally: I'm no uber-guru, but if the battery is dead the clock device should still be found, it just won't keep time. So I don't think the battery is the issue. Can someone else also verfiy this?
Cheers!

;-) I recall setting the clock every time I booted up my old A500, before getting a memory expansion that included a real-time clock, with battery. You're correct that the clock should still work, even without the battery.

Welcome. And BTW. A1000's parallel port is male, opposite to other Amigas and PCs. And A1000 usually needs kickstart loaded from disk, it's not in rom.
