Title: CyberstormPPC Crashes
Post by: Roj on June 01, 2003, 05:01:30 PM
Does anyone else with a CSPPC have trouble running the Subspace plugin for AmigaAmp for more than about 5 minutes at a time without something going wrong?

AmigaAmp itself almost never crashes, but Subspace crashes even when AmigaAmp isn't playing anything. Just wondering if it's buggy software or possibly something along the lines of a hardware problem. I've also tried two different sets of SIMMs, running in 70ns mode, putting a new fan on the PPC heat sink, and used Arctic Silver compound as well. So far, none of this has helped at all.

Any other advice would be great, although I already know about black socks and white shoes. :-D

AmigaAMP is pretty buggy.

Try using ANR instead. It has a AmigaAMP plugin wrapper. If it doesn't crash then it's definitely AmigaAMP.

Ok, just checked with some people.

The problem is definitely in the Subspace plugin. It is bugged. Best get rid of it.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for checking. It's too bad too. Subspace is one of the best looking plugins available on Amigas. I found a 68k version of Subspace. It's nice enough, but it isn't quite as impressive.

PPC apps crash pretty frequently, at least on my system. I guess it's just a matter of hoping OS4 for the CSPPC doesn't suffer the same problems.
