Title: News item suggestion
Post by: lurkist on January 04, 2007, 02:37:36 PM
New items should bounce to the top like forum threads when comments are made.  This way an item with lots of interest will remain on view.  What do you think?

Cheers

IMHO, I think it will create a chaos.

News are mostly important when they are current. Having a news item on top from 5 months ago, just because someone left a comment, will most likely create a confusion. Plus, when a news item is worthy of discussion, it should have a thread on the forum anyway.

My .2 cents

An idea with potential merit, which simply isn't possible.  We didn't write this software, we can't change the way that part works.

Okay.

MrZammler is probably right anyway, hadn't thought of that aspect.

Cheers

What about mirroring the news item in the forums? Comments made on the news item automatically are posted to the forum entry and vice-versa, somewhat like the makelink AmigaDOS command. When the news item rolls off, the forum entry can still be maintained, commented on, etc until it loses popularity. Gotta be a way to do that.
