Title: Identifying this font
Post by: RolandO on January 04, 2007, 09:41:18 AM
hi all

i'd like some help in identifying a font used in an amiga application.

the app is one that i wrote waaaay back in 1990 or so, and i no longer have either an amiga or the software  :-(

however i recently found a paper copy of a screenshot of the app, that i have subsequently scanned and am attempting to "redraw" for posterity purposes, as best as i can.

i've attached a sample of the some of the characters from the scan - note in particular the curved shape of the C, E and F characters.

if anyone can help i'd be very grateful.  ideally, i'm after a real screengrab of the entire character set, so i can properly recreate the image.

thanks
roland

That font is Topaz. It is the standard font built in to AmigaOS 2 and above.

That isn't topaz. See the 'E' shape. Spot the different '7'.

topaz/8

hi Colmiga

thanks for your reply, but i don't think that's Topaz: none of the samples of Topaz that i've seen (eg. here (http://www.heckmeck.de/amigastyle/amiga_topaz/)) include the baseline serif on the "1" or the curvature of the vertical spine of the "E" and "F" as in my scan.

any other suggestions welcome!

thanks

Why yes, you're right. It's a serif font. It was the 'A' that made me sure it was Topaz.

If the font was 'custom' for the app then the chances of ID'ing it go down greatly.

@RolandO

What is the name of the app? It would help in finding the name of the font.

If memory serves, topaz/11 looked somewhat different to topaz/8. It might be topaz/11.

It is not topaz, 8 or 11.

Just had a look, Topaz/11 is the same style as in the shot Piru posted, of course, 3 points larger.  :-)
