Title: Assign commands
Post by: Hodgkinson on January 01, 2007, 09:31:08 PM
Hi all,
Is there any way to make a assigned folder (Or in my case SMBFS: ) appear as a icon on the WB3.0 desktop, so it can be browsed through the normal means, rather than using shell or dopus?

Thanks,
Hodgkinson.

Copy a "disk.info" to the root of the mounted partition, maybe?

Hmmm... Slight problem, SMBFS accesses drives over a network, and im accessing PC drives.

The main thing I want to do is to be able to view Amiga cover CD's in the normal fashion on my A1200, by putting the CD into a shared CD drive on a networked PC and accessing that drive from the A1200 via the network.
Normally, these disks appear straight away on my A1200T with a built-in CD drive (They have disk.info files on them), but when I access the disk over the network, no such joy. I have to access the disk via shell or dopus.

Use VOLUME-option (see smbfs documentation).

This doesn't give icons for CDs etc, this is not how samba works. Yet, you should get volume icon for the samba mount.

Yep, Piru is correct. That is how I connect my Amithlon box to the PC all the time. Just set the volume parameter.
