ok, heres a confusing one, i can remember playing zool on my A1200, and know there was that funny code wheel to start the game, i also remember loosing it once and never being able to play the game again. now i have zool for winUAE and was wondering if anyone knew where there is a virtual version of this code wheel or something, thanks
-
Not sure if it would even be possible for the virtual wheel...
Although it would be quite interesting if someone can do the scan of the upper and bottom wheel, and somehow code it in flash to overlay the two and you can use it...
I have the wheel myself, but its about 3 states away.
Zool is cool! :-D

If there was ever an incentive to go out and get a cracked copy of a game, it was those annoying wheels.
-
Joshua... Nuff said.

Here is a link to the wheel.

Nothing was more annoying than the blood-red paper. Jack Nicholas Golf, anyone?
I'm still looking for a my manuals for Sideshow and Battle Chess. I know they're in my attick SOMEWHERE.

Well, You must rotate the wheel to get out the correct numbers. So looking at that wheel will not help him to start the game.

The English language is (C) by The UK. Please refrain from using it.

Im happy to let the link stay, its a photo of the code wheel sure, but the numbers are not visible, no use to anyone.
I agree.. those code wheels and "What is the 5th letter on page 26 of the user manual you lost 5 years ago" used to get on my nerves too :)
-
Never had the wheel. You don't need it for the CD32 Version. ;)
But Monkey Island 2 had a wheel that was hilarious!!!
2 toe nail clippings and 5 bat wings give you...

@hamtronix
No sehän sopii. :-)

I've got Zool and Zool AGA both with wheels. It would be very difficult to even scan it in because the colours are so similar, guess the only thing to do is watch the big auction website in the sky, eBay!
-
Why don't you just spend 30 seconds googling for a cracked zool adf? :) (yeah yeah flame me to hell :))
-
@All.
Use WHDload, this removes the copy protection.

WHAT? a jpg image of the wheel is prhobited? Then a jpg of a box must be phrobited as well. I think you are just nitpicking now. This piracy hysteria is amazing.. :(
There is something called fair usage as well..

:lol: Dunno, but sometimes you really have a resemblance to one of those excitable, annoying Jack Russells yapping at everything reeking of the slightest wiff of copied stuff :-P.

those wheels were fun, monkey island 2, indiana jones and the fate of atlantis, loom had book of patterns ^^
-
I can't seem to find a wheel for Zool in my little collection, but I've got an extra wheel for Zool 2. Are you sure you need a wheel for the 1st one?
-
Both of them had a whell IIRC.

I remember having printouts for every wheel-combination stapled together. They filled up a complete folder. I never figured out how the original wheels worked until I recently acquired some original games! :idea: :crazy:
A very hard-to-read one comes with Another World. I never get the correct code in one time.

@everyone
I dont know how many times I will have to say this:
GET WHDLOAD !!!!!!!!!!!! seriously!
Zool and all other games that require a Code Wheel or Dongle or whatever.....no longer need them when you install the games to harddrive using WHDload.
Why on Planet Earth (Which is located in our solar system in the Milky Way Galaxy somewhere in the universe) would you still want to use Floppy disks????????? for games especially???
I still use floppies and love them.....but not for loading games..on;y for some demos and files.
-
lierbag28 is giving good advice in my opinion :-)
You risk destroying your floppy disks by continuously using them. So why not use a WHDLoad installer to get the game into hard drive and then put your original floppy disks safely away.
Go here http://www.whdload.de/search.html and type Zool in the search box. Use the supplied installer to get the game installed to your hard drive. No need for code wheels and old games like Moonstone, Bio Challenge and D-Generation will work fine in Amigas like the A1200 and A4000 8-)
You can even press a single key, usually F9 or F10, to exit the game and get back to your Workbench screen, without the need for a reboot :-D
