It only just occurred to me, there IS hope for the A1, no matter what anyone says.
If the same percentage of Amigans who own a PC, were applied to PC users to own an AmigaOne, WE ARE IN BUSINESS!!!
Have a good day!
AmigaOne! See, I just KNEW it could work!

Who said there is NO hope for the AmigaONE? I'm confused.

there is plenty of hope, but the fact that Amigan's have had to buy a PC, is not a good sign of anything.
It shows that we don't have the software, the performance....ugh, too many issues to name them all. So we bought a PC.
btw, anyone see the new Sony PSX...its PS2 based machine, but with 120gb hdd, dvd/r, broadband, and a built in RTOS....wow, I thought amiga/custom chips when I heard the announcement....japan only right now....

If Sony bought Amiga (If only), they could port OS4 to this Hardware, and promote it as the "Sony Amiga" or something similar. These machines would sell out overnight, and we'd have the same home user scene we had ten years ago. We can but dream!

Not me. My K6-200 was given to me for free by a friend of mine. I had only to buy a Matrox Mystique and a dimm second hand. I would never buy a NEW x86 based computer for myself.

Well, with my amiga I can surf decently on the net, it has a great emailer, it does multichannel tracking, I even use it to learn java... it does nearly everything I need, but I guess I should consider myself lucky :)

Exactly, why the hell is the normal every day Joe average computer user even going to even think twice about getting an Amiga when standard everyday software is not available.
Amiga/pegasos is a minority which is going nowhere imo until decent software is available.

If Sony would buy Amiga, it would in bankcrupt in less than a year :)
Seen companies come and go in past years.

Well. Maybe somebody ports AROS to PSX

tell you what,
if Sony releases it. It's popular in Japan, and later in Europe and America, and it comes with low cost or free developer tools....
Then its not so important that its compatible with Amiga software or OS...not if it captures that same home computer spirit and the imagination of the next generation....then it will be 'time to put away childish things'...as they say, ermmmm well cause we'll have a great new toy :-)
The thing is...I don't care about the vehicle, I just want to get to my destination.
This thing, has potential....I'm not ready to declare it the solution, the winner or the end-all....but if its what Amiga shoulda/woulda/coulda, then I'm all for it.
I just hope someone does do that AROS port so
we can talk about it all over Amiga.org constantly
;-)
