Title: Pagestream author Deron in a difficult situation
Post by: Amiduffer on December 26, 2006, 10:38:16 PM
Hey all. I thought everyone who uses Pagestream should know this. Deron got legally screwed by his brother on a land deal, and is moving out to rural South Dakota. Hes got a request for a few items to help in his situation.

His website is Derons site (http://www.dogstarkennel.com/)

Watch out for those brothers!

And I thought only I had a brother who was a jerk to me. Anyone else? :-(

I've just got a pretty, sh!tty family, in general.  :-(

I hate {bleep}er's like that. I mean, to screw over your own family.....It's just ridiculous.

Karma will get that {bleep}nut someday....

This would sure be a great time for everyone to upgrade Pagestream to the latest version for your Amiga, AND what ever other platform you're using!
This guy has been supporting the Amiga since the the '80s!

PS5 is in beta for 68k Amiga. You can buy it and get the Beta, and then qualify for a free upgrade of the full version when it's finished. I've been meaning to buy PageStream anyway. I think now is the time.

Well, if his "family" ever comes to visit his new place, who's to say where they disappeared to when they go missing.

Sent them a donation today.  I'm from St. Louis, maybe I could pay Brad a "visit" next time I'm in town...

Hello! Thanks to everyone who has helped us, even if it was just a prayer or a kind word! We are still moving forward, but we have a long way to go. Thanks to amiduffer (and others) for spreading the word. We hate asking for help, but sometimes lessons in humility come hard.

After a particular hard week, I am glad to be in front of a computer on the Internet here in town. As an update (and reminder that now is still a good/no great/ time to upgrade ;-)) I posted the following on our PageStream list. Sorry if it is a duplicate to you!

Deron
--------------------------------------------

Just checking in. I've been trying to read (and answer) my yahoo email a couple times a week, but this last week we were snowed in. Our small "house" construction has not gone well, between the snow, cold and wind it has of course hampered every step. Now all the vehicles would not start last week, including the generator, and finally had to drive 10mi in the snow on the ATV to get to some place we could call out with the cell phone to arrange a ride from some local friends so I could get to town and get parts. Not fun! We are of course starting to really sweat getting things up and running so we can get back to full time work!! Everything seems to take longer, cost more, and I am just so discourged. Thanks to everyone who has ordered upgrades over the last 6 weeks, I have tried to get the access doled out right away and everyone should be caught up. If you are still thinking about upgrading, it is still much appreciated (as if it wasn't always ;-)).

Good news, we have been able to figure out how to finish framing despite not being able to get all the footing peirs poured. A combination of steel anchor posts driven into the ground, and outside guy lines until we can pour under the house this spring. Plus, the 50-60mpg winds and -20F temps have ended and this coming week is going to have highs around 40F which should give us a chance to make some better progress.

Once we do get the frame up, I do have some updates to compile and upload. We only pray it is soon!

Thanks for everything! Please keep us in your prayers!

Amazing that someone can do such a thing against their very own brother.  :-x

I guess you never read book of Genesis in the Bible.  :quickdraw:

Hi Deron, cool of you to hang around and keep us updated. I'm in dire economic straights myself, so all I can do is wish you the best.

Quite a number of years back, I used a copy of Pagestream (on my A2000) for the Southern Maine user group, and a few other things, but had no need for a desktop publisher since. It was a pretty kick-ass program though, from what I remember. Thanks.

I know where my friends are, even if they are folks I've never met face to face :-)

This has really been tough on us, and we need all the support (be it emotional, spiritual, or financial) we can get.

Thanks again,

Deron

I have made an online purchase of Pagestream 5.0 Professional CD (Amiga 68k) and a seperate donation.

Feel free to name a 'Fancy Rat' after me in my honour.

So be it. When I get a chance I'll take a picture of "hyper". Do you want a hairless rat as your "name sake" :-)

Thanks again,

Deron

(hey, today was "only" 20-30 mph winds. Tomorrow they are predicting 50-60 mph again!! But this weekend the temperatures will be in the 40's F!! I might actually get some walls up. Anyone have need for a programmer by telecommute? I'm cheap ;-) )

Yes, a hairless rat will do nicely!

Train him well, Obi-Wan!
