That's the dos return code (RETURN_FAIL) for 'a complete or severe failure'.

I'd hazard a guess at a missing or corrupted library that's common to all the apps ..maybe an MUI custom class?

Try using SnoopDos (http://aminet.net/package/util/moni/SnoopDos) to find out what it's failing on.

how exactly would I track that with snoop dos?
It's happening for me with vistapro on my 4000t.
Happens wit i use cyberGFX or piccassoiv drivers in hi res settings...?  strange?

I get this when the program won't run on my 4000, sometimes running a degrader program will help. :-)
