@VooDoo

Well this is what happened:

We got about 15 people together of which only 4 or 5 could actually
code, we set up a maillist, aggreed on who should start with
what, babbled a bit on the maillist, and forgot about
the whole project  :-o

I'm still subscribed to that list, but haven't received a single
mail for the last ~8 months, and never saw a single line of
ported code, but I'm still prepared to do "my" bit if I
see someone else doing something on the GUI-classes.

Are you talking about this project (http://sourceforge.net/projects/amiga-oo/) on sourceforge?  Nothing ever happened at all - no activity, homepage, members of anything.

I'd love to see a port of any M$-compatible office suite, but it won't happen anytime soon.  That sourceforge project was a grand vision, but the platform doesn't seem to have the critical mass of programmers and users necessery for something like that to work.

I'll be watching AmiZilla closely, and if that's a success, then there may be more of a chance for an office suite.

Sounds like a typical sourceforge Amiga project... :-(

>Porting problems - Pthread

Hello
On message board, someone mention problems with pthread. On the commercial portability tool MKS,  pthread is available.

MKS (http://www.mkssoftware.com/reskit/)

Is it better to port the commercial MKS tools to AmigaOS / AmigaDE first before any Linux / OpenSource programs?

Where can I get the source for open office? (Have do some internet scanning) I have a copy of SAS/C, FirstClass and the C/Asm coding skills of about a 16 year old (Though I'm much older :) Don't know how much I could do or time I could devote, but it sounds interesting.

SAS/C won't work... too out of date.

Openoffice has all the bells and whistles, I use it for my assignments (B. EE).

But I say start with Abiword. It's awesome, and more "amiga-like" than open-office - OO.org is so freakin' bloated even on a P-II 300/256MB under linux, it realy is a clone of MS office.

In case you don't know, Abiword is pretty much the "standard" GNU open source word processor for just about every architecture...

Well.. http://www.openoffice.org/ (http://www.openoffice.org/)  could be a good address to start..  :-P

Source is here (http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/1.0.3/source.html) (scroll down on page) but I like to point out that it's over 170 Megabytes as a Compressed archive.

So I hope you have a lot time and a nice fast computer...
