This is an appeal for a serial cable for the Kodak DC40,DC50,DC120,DC240,DC280,DC3400 or DC5000 cameras.
If anyone has or had any of the above cameras and no longer needs the serial cable, please would they be kind enough to send it my way. I would pay postage plus a bit.
Note - the cable looks like the one here

Thank you,

Try writing to Kodak & they might actually send you one. I did it on a friends advice for a Philips SER: Camera & much to my surprise it worked, they sent it right away, as customer service, w/o asking me any PoP.

Thanks for the advice. However I have just found the cable on eBay. It is from the States though, and I've had a couple of bad experiences buying from there. Hopefully I won't need to resurrect this thread in a few weeks time...

Yes, so have I, there are a lot of crooks over here :)
If you have access to old Mac cables, you can convert one. I have a DC40, and I just put a DB-9 end on one using the wiring diagrams that are easy to find on the Web. It even works!

Off Topic , But have been using ebay and others, and have had no problems with US citizens or others for that matter.
Might have been lucky, or?
Anyway . Dont slag a continent , slag the M***ucker not the country.
{bleep}heads are international.
Anyway good luck the next time.
I might be the one bidding on the other side.
Peace

I have that cable. DB9F to MiniDin8 Male. Turns out I have 3 of them. It's code "876" on my cables for sale page (see sig). PM me if interested and we'll work out a deal. They're all still in the packages!

Now I have my cable, but I can't connect.
I have tried DC240Wizard14 and DC240_Tool from Aminet, but they both fail to connect.
I have tried using serial.device (various speeds) and artser.device which I used to connect my old DC210 (various speeds) but they both fail.
I'm wondering whether the cable is different from the USA. Would they have different pinouts (maybe an NTSC issue or something)?
Is anyone else using this camera with their classics? What configurations do you have?
Many thanks and happy new year!

OK, same story on my G/F's PC.
I was beginning to worry about the serial port on the camera, but USB to the PC works (same port used for both).
A little research later, turns out there are at least two pinouts for the same lead (and camera, go figure). So,
@WeirdAmi - which pinouts do your leads have?
see here

1st or alternative?
Cheers
