Title: Transfer .adf >880K ???
Post by: yock1960 on December 16, 2006, 11:50:39 AM
I'm not sure this is this correct forum, but here goes. I have several .adf files that are bigger than 880K, 902K to be exact and Amiga Explorer won't transfer them from the PC to the Amiga. I'm still pretty new to Amiga, but I seem to remember reading about there being some expanded disk formats. If my math was correct it was only like 56K more and I didn't think it worth the time to look into. In any case, is there a way to get this thing to my Amiga? I currently only have 1MB of memory and am running KS/WB 1.3.

Thanks!

Sounds a bit weird.  Sure they aren't 901K?

If they are exactly 901102 bytes, they are usual 880K floppies.

(1 kilobyte is 1024 bytes.  1024 bytes * 880 = 901102 bytes)

Yeah, it's 923,000 some odd K-bytes. It's an Amiga Format disk that came from a book. I came across it online. I guess I need to figure out how to make an .adf from WinUAE and copy one to the other.

If you want to transfer the files to an Amiga you could use Hj Split, split the file, use CrossDos to format 720kb PCDisks on the Amiga, transfer using two disks and use HJ split for the Amiga to join the files again and copy them to an aAmiga formatted disk. You would need a HD and CrossDos though. HJSplit is freeware and works great!

IIRC, x-copy and similar could read&write more than 80 tracks, few more beyond track 79 (upto 82, I think), maybe thats where extra data comes from..
