Hi guys,
Well I finally managed to get the Scandoubler out of my unused A4000D! Now, I heard these were getting pretty rare, and I've not got much use for it personally, so I was wondering if members here could tell me what they believe it might be worth.
I am considering selling it - I already asked someone else if he needs it but I haven't got a reply; thought I'd see what everyone else thinks!
Now now, honest opinions guys please on what you know from auctions or whatever... :-)

50 to 80 euro

Of course I'm assuming that this is the Phase5 scandoubler...
Offering information such as brand name/ model no helps.
Think I paid almost $200 Canadian for a Phase5 2 years ago. (Ebay).
As far as actual worth, like anything else, it's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it... not more, not less.

it's worth $150 - $200
do a buy it now at $200, becasue you might get it.

Oh sorry I must have missed this text whilst reading earlier, maybe I WAS drunk after all!
It's the original Phase5 module:
On the front of the card in the narrow corner, it reads (c) phase5 '97
On the back of the card there is a label with the code SN C300858

I have Phase5 SD too, but faulty one :-(

Are they known for being prone to faults? I think I heard someone else say something similar to you on Amiga.org :getmad:

I have 3 of them and they all work fine as long as your video slot is working because that's where they plug in...

I hope you don't think me rude, and don't mind me asking, but why do you have or need three of them?
Are they all in use?

Can SD work by itself or needs CV64 to work ?
I think I'll resolder mine to see if there is some cold solder, but hate to mess with cv+sd bundle while trying...

do these work with dce cv64/3d ?

It works flawlessly on its own (mine was stuck in a 4000 on its own for quite awhile) - taking in mind this is only a scandoubler and not a flickerfixer, so very limited screenmodes!

I have a phase5 card, so I honestly don't know. I really see no reason why not though; looking through Amiga-Hardware I can't even find a DCE version of the scandoubler, so maybe it was intended to use with the phase5 SD module?

I just need to see where is what on screen or play some games from time to time. My RGB-> s-video converter is taking ages to see some beta stage :-D

Sounds like a good project, are there any pictures in the gallery?
Note: Feel free to make me offers btw guys, I've definitely decided to sell it and also have a price in mind!
There is someone who has made an offer already, but he is waiting to hear from another supplier before making a decision.

Yeah. I have 3 A4000D, 1 A4000T, a 2000, and a 500. Not doing much of anything with them right now. 1 tower is waiting for the Prometheus rom to be upgraded ( A4000D tower conversion ). I don't have the room or time to set them all up right now. Hope to change that fairly soon...
The 4000's are various configs starting from CSPPC233, Quikpak 060, Warp 040, and 030.
A2k is stock as is A500.
Also have 1 external scandoubler. Have a couple of 1084's but they're not so much fun compared to LCD or 19" CRT.

Make sure you have a working video slot. The SD is pretty straightforward. If your video slot is bad, it won't work. One of my A4000D has a bad video slot, unfortunately.

Ah :-( how can i check is video slot working ? Actually I do get some kind of signal from SD, but it's out of sync ? I have some old monochrome vga monitor that displays jumping picture :-) but newer monitors just go to "out of sync" state....

Good question. I have more than one 4000 and more than one SD so I just tried the SD in a different 4000. The bad A4000D also has a bad parallel port. I don't know anybody that fixes these anymore so... I thought that my single SD was bad until I got more 4000's and realized that the problem was the video slot. :(
If you're getting an image on the monitor, the video slot is not likely to be the problem. Check your cable or monitor.
