So what is the status of PocketUAE? Can it run non-AGA games @ A500 speed w/sound, smoothly?
-
any updates on it?

PocketUAE (http://pocketinsanity.sourceforge.net/)
Google is your friend. Though it doesn't look like it's been updated in about 6 months.

There is currently no handheld that has the needed cpu power to run it at full a500 speed with sound from what i have heard.
-
regardless of speed - I wish it would run at all on my XDA Exec. Seems it is incapable of handling 640x480 screens...
It boots up nicely but the screen is oversized and does not display anything useful

I tried Pocket UAE on my Ipaq 5550 some month ago,to be near useable i had to overlock it with pocket hack master (from 400 to 530 mhz as far as I can remember) and use 11khz for the sound witch is uggly.
I was wondering if some pocketpc with processors running to 630 mhz were powerfull enough to run a full speed A500.

The GP2X does a reasonable job of emulating an A500.

Most games run fine (without sound), many games work fine with sound, its a mixed bag, ...theres still something awesome about workbench on a handheld.
