Hello everyone,
I was a long admirer of the Amiga line (read everything about the architecture, the hw, the custom chips), when I got my A1200 back in 1992 (no harddisk, no monitor :-) ). I was very proud, it was a very nice machine, could do things which made my friends with a pc jealous :-D (like smooth multitasking on a 14MHz processor, but no doubt you all know about this)
Later I bought a a harddisk (made my own 2.5-3.5 connector and put the HD inside the A1200 case - a compact little machine :-D ) and a Microvitec 12" multiscan monitor... that was very cool!
I even tried to overclock by changing the 28MHz xtal on the motherboard... which of course failed, but the tough little Amiga survived it :)
However, I never managed to get an accelerator card, it was way to expensive... and the times were changing. PCs got more cheaper and more useable, and couldn't go without in school... :(
So our ways parted, I sold my A1200 with everything around 1997. But I kept an eye on Amiga, hoping that times get better...
But unfortunately nothing good happened, things get even worse for the Amigas.
And I'm oh so much sorry to see that still nothing promising on the horizon. I'm sad to see that there is no spirit in Amiga Inc. (or whatever they call them selfs at them moment)
to create a new hw platform for the Amiga.
I'm fed up with this bloatware windows (and the ms we-have-invented-everything style). I don't like linux.
I want my Amiga back.
As there is no new machine, I was just looking for buying the OS3.9, and the run an emulator... but there is no OS3.9 to buy??? Uh forget it.
I bought Amiga Forever 2006 Premium edition.
This way I can have my Amiga with me everywhere, even in my workplace :-D
(Very pleased with it. The videos rock. Respect Jay.)
If you read so far, thanks for your patience ;-)

Welcome to Amiga.org!
There are several places trying to invent a successor to the classic Amigas. MorphOS is based on the Quark microkernal and comes with MUI and Cybergraphics. AmigaOS 4 has the blessing of Amiga, Inc. and is being produced by Hyperion Entertainment in Germany. AROS is an open-source attempt at making a source-code compatible AmigaOS replacement for x86 PCs.
Get used to using emulators, though, because none of them are compatible with the custom chipset. You'll find yourself using WinUAE under Windows and EUAE under most other platforms to run the old Amiga software. Amiga-Forever comes with both since the live-CD boot is based on Knoppix Linux and the install to windows is based on WinUAE.

You're saying that you can't find AmigaOS 3.9 to buy?
-
Aham. Where can one buy it? (Not on eBay :-) )
Still comes on 5 3.5 disks? :-)

You can get OS 3.9 from Amiga Kit (http://www.amigakit.com). It only comes on CD-ROM, the last OS to ship on floppy disks was OS 3.1.

Thanks for the hint!
I tried googling for it, and I think I looked at amiga.com...
But I'm just fine with Amiga Forever. This way I've other licenses included, not just the OS.
But it is good to see some Amigas for sale! Even if they refurbished :-o

Try Vesalia. (www.vesalia.de) I bought some stuff from them, and arrived safely within a few weeks later in Hungary.
Unfortunatelly not many hardware news at the last ten years, but I felt after a weeks of using Winuae that something is missing. I Only had an a500. (never sell her) Now I put some turbo board and other stuff in her. It's amazing. Now I'll buy an acceleradetd a1200 wiht mediator. (to use Modern PCI Sound, video,LAN etc. cards.)

Welcome to Amiga.org!
We deliver to Hungary.

You have a decent shop Amigakit! Unfortunatelly your prices was always higher than the others when I decided to buy something. Currently delphina sound card fe.
Anyway I plan other stuff to buy so I think we will meet next time.
-
Thanks- Just checked price of Delfina compared to the other Amiga dealer you mentioned, we are cheaper on that sound card?
-
Yeah, now you're cheaper, but there is ASB, they selling this at 89EUR. Some weeks ago at Vesalia the price was similar.
Some guys don't recommend ASB so I will wait.
When last I bought some amiga stuff about 300-400 EUR. You and your competitors difference was about 7-10EUR only. So there is no big difference, but then Vesalia had some other stuff which you don't so I choose them.
