Title: PicassoIV help
Post by: skurk on December 07, 2006, 10:09:52 PM
Hi,

I have an A4000 with a PicassoIV card.  Now, the card appears to work perfectly fine, but I'm having some issues with the refresh rates.

I just downloaded the Picasso96 drivers and had a go with them.  They work fine for workbench purposes, but when switching to a "native" mode, say 320x256x5, I get these annoying horizontal stripes on the screen, every Nth pixel.  I'm confident the refresh rates are wrong.

During the early startup menu (by holding the left shift), it is suggested to use the PicassoModeTNG utility for adjusting the refresh rates.

I downloaded version 2.5 and 2.9 without luck.  I'm adjusting rates like crazy, but can't test any mode.  I've tried saving, but upon reboot the modes are still the same.

I must have missed something very obvious here.  Can someone please poke me with the clue stick?

Goto picasso mode prefs in your workbench/prefs dir. once in the program you can click on different video mode resolutions  and change color and refresh modes and test them before you save them. If the screen looks fine except for the horizontal stripes there may be something wrong with the card, but it is worth a try to change the refresh.

Hi,

I've tried that, but my impression was that it only worked for VGA modes (like 640x480, not 640x512).  I'll give it another shot before I start nagging again.

Any ideas why PicassoModeTNG won't let me test the screen modes, by the way?
