Title: Simm Ram Question
Post by: DeQuevedo on May 27, 2003, 12:53:27 PM
Hi Ppl!

I have just bought 64 Meg of fast ram for my Miggy, in 2 x 32 Meg double sided modules

They´re destinated to my new Mk2 060, but since I don´t have it jet I will try it in my Bppc on the 1200.

I was wondering a few questions.

How I can now if the ram simm I have bought are 3,3v or 5v?
I know Bppc memory works at 5 v, but Mk2 is working at this range too?

I´m afraid to melt the simms, since 32 meg sim are relatively new and perhaps it will run to 3,3 instead of 5 v?

Thank you in advance!

Understanding DRAM numbers (http://www.chipmunk.nl/DRAM/ChipManufacturers.htm)

Try that, or go to google (http://www.google.com) and type in the code that's on the chips.

I believe the index key (the little cut out part in the middle of the SIMM) shows the voltage.  I don't think you can seat a 3.3v SIMM in a 5.0v socket.  It won't fit, because the notch doesn't line up with the cut-out.

You shouldn't be able to damage a SIMM that physically fits.
