Title: FS: Apollo 3040 (4040)
Post by: skurk on December 06, 2006, 09:10:02 AM
Hi,

I bought this card a few months ago, but I can't get it to work in my A4000.  It has probably been overclocked too much and need a new clock crystal and/or CPU.  Rear side of the clock reveals recent soldering.

I honestly don't have a clue, these are my guesses.  Hell, for all that I know, it might work perfectly fine in someone else's A3000/A4000.

The item is an Apollo 3040 (card says 4060, but it has a 68040@40).  It's basically the same as a 4040, but it has two RAM slots instead of four.

64 MB RAM is mounted on the board.

Buy this at your own risk.  I am fairly sure that it should be trivial to fix, but I have no clue about electronics.  Unfortunately.

Crappy pictures of the board:

Send me a bid if you are interested.  Item location is Trondheim, Norway, but I will ship worldwide provided that you pay in advance (Paypal or MoneyBookers)

Simply amazing.  Broken hardware gets bought up like there is no tomorrow.  Only in the world of Amiga.

Skurk,

Hey I did get the card working without any problem, however the memory on the board was 32MB total not 64MB. The chips did say Compaq 32MB kit of 2 what that means is that they are 16MB times 2 or 32MB anyhow I thank you for the fast shipping on the card. I did find that for the card to actually work I had to change the CPU jumpers from E to I on the motherboard which is the proper setting according to the manual.

Thanx again and have a Merry Christmas!!!

Steve

That's really strange, I could not get the card working at all.  I really did change the jumpers and everything.  I even got a 68060 after that which worked perfectly.

Well, congratulations with a functional card! :-)

Thanks for the prompt payment and have a merry christmas  :)
