Hi,
My 1st amiga was in 1986, The amiga 1000. What a machine. I fell in love with it at 1st sight. I actively used amiga's up to about 94, than I switched to macs. I have owned at one point or another every amiga except for a 3000t and a 4000.(US releases only)
My favorite amiga form wise is the Amiga 600. which I need to get again. (with a accelerator :) )
I currently use a imac g5 for most issues, but recently have setup a amiga 2500 with a 68040 board, and a amiga 1200 for fun. the days I spent waiting for Amiga format to show up at the amiga store... Much happier days.
I even convinced Fred Schmid(company) in Colorado back in the late 80's to carry the amiga line (only 500's) but it was nice to sell them. Some perks of going to lunch with the computer buyer every other day. I think he carried the line just so I would shut up! :-D
Any fellow amiga people in northern colorado drop me a line. be great to hook up for drinks and s"Good old days" Talk

Enjoy your new old hobby!
A600s are a bit expensive these days, especially NTSC units. I got a PAL model for a fair-ish price a couple of years ago. You may want to consider that route as well.
As to accelerators... good luck. Those things are rare treasures. Jens Schoenfeld (http://www.ami.ga) may be producing new ones at some point, but for the moment, they're on hold.
