I'm looking for a graphics card for in my A4000. As I'm not quite sure what I should be looking for, I hope you guys/gals can give me some hints what I should best buy.
What I want to do with my machine:
1. Regular Workbench usage, with a resolution of some 800x600 in 24 bit (1024x768 would be nice though...). I'm not planning to play DVD movies or anything, but I like to be able to view photos from my camera and tweak the WB looks a bit with jpg-backdrops and icons with lots of different colors.
2. At the moment I have a M1438S monitor, when possible I would like to be able to use this (with a RGB-VGA connector converter), but I want to get a standard VGA monitor in the future (I guess this means the card must have a SD/FF).
3. Still be able to use ye olde DPaint LoRes screenmodes (320x200) - also on a VGA monitor.
What would be a good card to buy? I know a PicassoIV can do a lot/everything, but are there any cheaper/simpler cards which can do abovementioned stuff?
All info is welcome. And also any offers if you have a card for sale :-)

Can I also display, say, PAL HiRes Lace without flicker on a VGA monitor then? (I really am quite a n00b with graphics stuff)

so u need a card with a built-in scandoubler.
there are 2 that come in mind, the best zorro rtg which is the PicassoIV , and the Cybervision64/3D with the optional scanboubler.
-or- get a videoslot AGA scandoubler and get a card that has a scandoubler input, like the Cybervision64 that AmigaZ recommended, or a PiccoloSD64, or a card that has 2 vga connectors on the backplate, see them all here:

edit: you need a scandoubler/flickerfixer to display AGA on a VGA monitor. the RTG then takes this signal, and whenever nescessary it automatically switches between aga/rtg. not all rtg have this feature though, look for 2 vga ports on the backplate...

So if I understand correctly, I will still need a scandoubler to display the standard Amiga screenmodes?
For instance: if I run Workbench in a Cybervision screenmode, and I open a program that switches to a 15KHz screenmode (like DPaint or Protracker), the screen will just black out/do random flashing stuff?

without a scandoubler feeding the rtg, when the 15khz screen comes up, video will be blank and u have to plug a 15khz monitor on the native amiga video port...

Well, I guess hereby is my WTB call for a PicassoIV then. If anyone has one up for sale, drop me a line and name a price.
