Title: Amiga 500/2000 Rev's and Kickstart 2.04
Post by: vk3heg on November 18, 2006, 09:02:15 PM
Hello Guys/Girls,

I have lost my instructions for the Amiga 500/2000 Kickstart 2.04 chip, that needs to have the pin's jumperd/connected for what revision mb that it goes into.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

AFAIK, A500 Revs 6A and later are ready for 2.04. For Rev 3 and 5 you must connect pin#1 and pin#31 on ROM IC.

My friend  has all 3 mentioned revs, so he got DIL40 IC extender and performed that operation on extender, avoiding soldering on PCB or even worse, ROM.

Maybe you should check-out from more source, before actually making some mods.

I had to do that with my A500.

Pin 1 to 31 need to be shorted on the ROM.  I soldered a wire across the pins and it worked fine.  If you do this, tin the wire at both ends first, before you try and solder it, as it will stick to the ROM legs faster and you won't have to apply so much heat to the ROM.
