I just received a 3000D (thanks, sdyates!). It softkicks to 2.04. I searched the archives and found a message that said the Kickstart file can be used with UAE.
Can it go the other way? I have Amiga Forever, so could I use the Kickstart 3.1 rom file as the Kickstart file on the 3000? Or is it too generic to use on a 3000? I ordered Kickstart ROMs today, but I guess I'm just impatient....

I think that the a3000 version bundled with amiga forever should work.

I'm not exactly sure what Amiga Forever includes, but the Kickstart files used by the A3000 aren't just plain ROM images - they also include what's known as the "bonus code" to initialize parts of the A3000 hardware (which makes them slightly larger than 512K). Normal ROM grabbing tools can't pick up this bonus code, so you need to get one off a SuperKickstart disk.
If Amiga Forever has these special ROMs, then you're all set. Just remember that the file has to be named DEVS:Kickstart on partition WB_2.x: (slightly annoying with Kickstart 3.1 for the lightly neurotic among us ;-))

Was a 3.1 Superkickstart Disk ever really released?
I have proper 3.1 ROMS in my 3000D now, but I was softkicking a 3.1 ROM image that included the bonus code for a while.
The 3000 came with a real superkickstart disk with 1.3/2.x on it. Also came with a copied (Not original)superkickstart disk with 1.3/3.1.
Didn't do that for long. Kicking from real roms, boots the A3000D up much faster :-)

It will not work, for one the AF ROMs are encrypted, and 2nd the A3000 needs a special ROM for it's scsi and other 3000 specific items.

"Amiga Emulator Box" CD from Tewi Publishing (Germany) has a lot of kickstarts - must check what they are. I bought it to get a legal A200 40.68 kick - I had just kick 3.1 for A500 and A4000
