Title: Phase5 FlashTool 1.3?
Post by: Hagbard on November 14, 2006, 08:23:56 AM
Hello,
over twice a year my Blizzard PPC forgets everything and I have to reflash it.
Up to now, every flash was made all right, but last night I tried to reflash and got this error message:

Emb Prog: Sector 0 is protected

And the flash process aborted itself.

I read in this board that FlashTool v1.4 uses to crash this way but the v1.3 one does not and flashes correctly.

I have been looking for the 1.3 one but only found the other one in two releases. No way to find it in Aminet, Vesalia, even Google!

Is here anyone who has the 1.3 version and can send it to me by email?

Thank you!

PD: I hope the board is still usable...  :-?

Probably could be found on some mag cover CD. Must do some digging.

Just on the subject of firmware flashing these cards, I encountered a nasty problem about two years ago while doing this.  Unfortunately I do not remember the version of the tool, nor the version of firmware involved.  Long story short is the flash literally fried one of my CybervisionPPC cards, which was attached to a Cyberstorm MKIII 060 card at the time I was flashing firmware to it.  Though the graphics card crashed and burned (smoke, buring plastic and everything..), amazingly the MKIII went unscathed.  Even the firmware flash was 'successful'.  Lesson learned for me is to always remove a CybervisionPPC graphics card before doing one of these firmware loads.  I still have the CybervisionPPC card if anyone wants to buy it really cheap.
