Title: IVS Vector 030 jumper settings?
Post by: Liber777 on November 13, 2006, 04:17:54 PM
Hello,

I just installed a Interactive Video Systems Vector 030 accelerator in the CPU slot of my A2500.  This card has Trumpcard SCSI, which I'm not planning to use for now.

When I boot the A2000 it hangs on a white screen for a very long while and then finally boots from the hard drive on the GVP card.   I'm guessing that the system is either polling SCSI devices on the Vector or looking for a boot device before finally giving the nod to the GVP card.

I think I need to disable the autoboot capability of the Vector and possibly disable its SCSI as well.  I checked both Amiga-Hardware and the Amiga Hardware database, and these jumpers are mentioned, but not identified.

Can someone here help me?

Thanks...!
Stivan

My manual says that you need to jumper the fourth pair of pins from the left on Jumper Block A.

That is, if you are looking at the card (RAM & chips side) with the edge connector at the bottom and the external SCSI connector to your right, Jumper Block A is the set of 11 pairs of jumpers in the middle of the card.  Like this:

:::::::::::

Count four from the left and jumper the two pins (upper and lower).

Let us know if this works!

Thanks!  I'll try it tonight and let you know.  Is that just for the autoboot?  It looks like the 4th pin pair is JP19.

Hi.  I tried that and my 2000 no longer hangs and boots right up.  It recognizes the 68030, but it does not see the fast RAM on the board.   If I let it take the roundabout way and boot with the jumper off, when it finally comes up it sees the memory just fine.  Do you have an alternate jumper setting?

Thanks for your help...!

Hi, I will have to take a peek at the manual.  PM me if you don't get a reply in a few days (sometimes I forget).

Sorry to bump an ancient thread...but...

I just picked up an A2000 toaster with one of these IVS Vector 030 boards in it and am having trouble.

Does anyone have a scanned manual they can share?  I really need to confirm and change some jumper settings on this bad-boy and there doesn't appear to be a scanned manual out there in the webs.

Thanks!!

Otherwise if no scanned copy if someone could describe the Jumper settings or take a phone pic and text it to me or whatever that would be sweet.  PM is ok too.
