Title: Real 3d
Post by: monty on November 11, 2006, 07:46:09 AM
Which was the very latest Amiga version of this excellent software, before it moved to other platforms?
It was 3.5 or 4 ?? And where can I find it?

It's a shame that no more developed quality amiga software cannot be found anymore these days!

C'mon, Imagine3D is still being developed. Version 6 is coming out soon. ImageFX 4.5 was put out recently. Pagestream is kept up to date. Etc. etc.

Its not all doom and gloom.  :smack:

@Amiduffer:

I know there's quality software today for the amiga; I use ImageFX often.

I was referring to the fact that software like Real 3D could be made available publicly by RealSoft, being it no more developed.

If u are in need of money, then go get a job!
If u are NOT, then please STOP selling others' products.

This kind of speculations are the plague of the amiga scene these days!

geez...calm down.  relax.  take a blue pill.

#1.  I have a job

#2.  I don't "need" money.  see above.

#3.  I'm not "selling" anything, not how you are implying.

#4.  I did not start this thread or choose the subject.

#5   What I said is true.  I OWN two LEGAL copies of r3dv3.

#6.  r3d3-Amiga can't be purchased new anywhere now.

#7.  A member expressed an interest in the program.

#8.  I offered my spare copy "to sell" (as in, like, $15) as a friendly gesture, not as capital venture.

Oh, well, I've never bothered with the program. But in similar cases, people have contacted the programers and asked to release the program to the public. Try, www.amiga.emucamp.com and ask if they can contact the owners unless you want to try.

@monty

Cheeky git!
You even asked where to get hold of a copy too!
Amiga software is getting increasingly hard to source and people that are willing to part with the stuff and offering it should be thanked, he had to buy it once, you don't expect him to give it away do you?
They do have worth.
"This kind of speculations are the plague of the amiga scene these days!" - it is people like yourself that prevent the transferral of a perfectly decent program that is sat gathering dust that could be used by someone else to produce animations and other graphics and to relieve nostalga.

@Monty

Either you misunderstood or you are out of line. The guy said he "owns two legal copies", one of which he would sell to you.

Note the words "own" and "legal". He isn't pirating anything. Selling something you legally own is (generally) not a crime. Do you expect him to give you one of them for free?

The original purpose of the thread has got me thinking....

Talking about the software rights of programs that are very old (in IT terms) is indicative that it is a major drawback for Amiga's survival.

If Amiga had a whole stack of Open sourced software that ran on it, the community would grow.

I mean if a bunch of popular open source software (Blender? Firefox, Openoffice.org) was available then transition into Amiga from outside would be easier for users.

It wouldn't be a case of trying to out-linux Linux but a case of making bridges from AmigaOS to the rest of the world... no man is an island.....

@Dingo_aus:

I totally, 1000% agree.  There's so many awesome programs that were written for the Amiga, many of which could gain a new lease on life in the open source world.  I'm not really sure what it would take to make this happen...  a mass buyout from absentee copyright owners?  A prayer vigil?  Who must we bribe to make this a reality?  I'm guessing the best way to get some momentum behind such an idea is to first start by making a list of the programs which people would like to have open-sourced and then, perhaps, try to approach the copyright owners?  Dunno the best way to go about it, but I think its a great idea, at least in concept..

What is wrong with you? Here he was trying to be nice and then you attack him? What is wrong with selling a legally bought piece of software?

I actually think you should be banned for behaving like this. It is not ok to insult or do any kind of personal attacks at a member and i am sure there is something about it in the guidelines as well.

You are hostile against other members in many of your preivous posts as well.

So back to the question, what was the last Real3D amiga version released?

3.5

Maybe it's just a coincidence but I was just on another Amiga forum where someone asked the very same question about Real3D and wanted to have it "zoned"; you know what I mean...

And then he gets offered to buy a legal copy here and flips out?! I actually agree with Tomas that people should be banned for behaviour like this.
