Title: What's the story...
Post by: adz on November 09, 2006, 07:41:30 AM
...with people using other peoples images on eBay??? Recently I sold this (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330027201712) on eBay and now the buyer is selling this (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Amiga-1200-A1200-3-1-ROM-COMPLETE-SYSTEM-No-Reserve_W0QQitemZ180048559064QQihZ008QQcategoryZ4598QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). If you scroll down to the bottom you will see that he has done a copy and paste of my image. I'm not normally one to make a fuss, but I do take my photography quite seriously and it kinda feels like I've been ripped off. Should I be pi$$ed off or should I just sit back and shut up.

That has happened to me in the past, you are very entitled to be annoyed, cant you contact ebays {bleep} customer support and try and get them to remove it? You could also use a water mark thing on your photos to show they are from you.

there are so many rotters on ebay!

@ Adz

I would PM the guy here on Amiga.Org and ask him why he can't take his own pictures. The only other way around this is to embed a logo in the image. Unfortunately that won't stop somebody taking an image from the Amiga.Org photoalbum and using it in their ebay ad.

Ah well, don't be pissed about it.
You can become pissed about everything
I guess he just didn't want to open his a1200 and did a google picture search. What harm is done? :-?

The same thing people {bleep} about on this board all the time, breach of copyright, if he was using it for non commercial purposes okay, but he's making money from my time and effort, do you think photos like these just happen? And take a look at the links, the card he's selling in the 1200 is the one he bought from me.

Why bother, just another example of a photographer getting ripped off, take a look at my PBase account, the image is clearly copyrighted.

I've thought of using watermarks before, but; 1. It ruins the photo and 2. People still use them anyway. I might just contact eBay and see what they have to say, all my copyright info should still be embedded in the EXIF data.

Just sent him a courtesy note via eBay, as from what I can tell they will actually pull his auction if I report him, lets just wait and see how he responds.
