Hi all, hope you can help with this one.
Just installed one of the Cybervision 64/3D boards Software Hut got, and now I'm in a real bind.
My setup is A3000D, 3640, and 8 meg fast ram.
I set the settings at 24bit resolution, which are causing problems. All I have to do is open any window, and the computer crashes which I need to do so I can change the monitor prefs. I plug the monitor into the VGA plug on the 3000 and the screen is just white because the monitor can't handle the mhz at the current setting.
What to do??
edit: what would be a better setting? My LCD monitor brings up a little screen that says the scan rate is 31.81 mhz.

Any ideas before I smash my head through the monitor? :-D :help:

You can try booting without startup-sequence, and deleting screenmode.prefs from SYS:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys.
-
i think you have problem with too low scanrate (ie 52Hz*36kHz, which your monitor cant handle)
try to fiddle with monitor settings and raise/lower some values, its easy with p96 drivers. I dont have cgx but there will be something similar for sure

This is the first time I've dealt with RTG cards in the 13 years I've owned Amigas. I hope your suggestion works.
-
can't u use cgx with the cvision? try with it, the 4th version is AWESOME.
-
I'm just using the programs that came with the CV64 board. I'm not sure what I have with all this crashing.
Is there a link for a non-technical reference on the difference between CGX and P96 or a product review?

Well...
I moved the drawer out of Prefs, and it booted up fine in regular hires mode. Thanks.
Changed the settings, and viola! the CGX card works, somewhat.
I can load AWeb and IBrowse, but most everything else ImageFX, Imagine3d, etc crashes. Looks great, just can't use it!
Are these cards supposed to be such a memory hog?? :-o It uses 2-3megs of fast ram upon booting! Ciminy.

Hi,
I had a CV643d in my A4K desktop and it used 4 meg Fast RAM as a buffer.
I'm sorry I cant help you with your settings, my card was installed by an Amiga firm.

Oh my word! :-o
Its the damn 07-Buster chip. What a rip-off! I want my money back. Where's Gould and Ali? How dare they sell computers with buggy chips?! :madashell: :admonish:
*sigh* I guess Softhut will be getting a check from me soon. Might as well fill out the rest of the ZIP banks while I'm at it. :rtfm:
Kind of reminds me of the old saying, "A boat is a hole in the water into which one pours money"

iirc, I don't think Mehdi Ali was President of Commodore at the time the A3000 was developed and released. It was Max Toy at that time if memory serves me correct. The problems with Zorro 3 DMA transfers were discovered later, during either the AA/A3000T/+ and A4000 development. As I think Dave Haynie has said, you could probably lay blame at Bill Sydnes for delaying fixes for Buster by deverting development for the A600 and the never released A1000+.
