Title: Running Mac OS on Amiga
Post by: lillPiP on November 05, 2006, 11:21:09 AM
What do I need to run Mac OS on my Amiga?
Shapeshifter I understand, but do I need some roms or something like that to run it on my Amiga with 020/030 ?

You need a Mac ROM image (can be likened ot the Kickstart ROM image you need for UAE) and a copy of MacOS (you can download 7.5.3 from Apple for free).

Where can I get the Mac Rom from?
Would be fun to try Mac OS on the Amiga.

You'll need a real Mac so you can grab the ROM to disk.
Just look on Ebay (or a yardsale) for an old Mac, shouldn't cost you more than €10 I think....

Why bother to emulate an old Mac?
Legally you need to own the ROMS which usually means buying the old Mac;so just use the Mac!
I really don't get going to all the trouble of obtaining files, emplant boards etc .

Older iMacs are available on eBay cheaply and very cheap around university campus-I have a G3 blue/white tower ($20) and iMac($40) .The iMac still had the OS9 on it.

For ME,the gee whiz factor of emulation isn't worth the aggravation.

One computer, many OS's. You can use Amiga and MacOS at the same time without having two computers on your desk.

also handy if your old 68k Mac has kicked the bucket!.

When I had an 060 and a graphics card I found my fusion setup to be faster then my real 040 Mac.

I use to run MacOS with Shapeshifter....
It was kind of fun to run even if I had no real use for it.
