Hi all,
I know there has been plenty of discussion about the screenmode topic, yet I didn't find any answer.
I recently got a 15" TFT monitor which I am currently using on my A1200D with Multiscan Productivity at 640x480. Works fine, yet the image looks rather "bulky" because the TFTs native resolution is 800x600.
So, the question is: Is there any screenmode/hack to squeeze out 800x600 at a refresh rate the TFT can handle (without acquiring an expensive flicker fixer of course)?
edit: I'm using a VGA adaptor which seems to be manufactured by Commodore, at least it has the C= logo shape.

I guess nobody answering means that it is not possible?! :-(
-
IIRC the only way to get 800x600 is thru interlace, and afaik interlace is generally not supported by LCD/TFT.
-
who said amiga was a cheap machine?
-
By your sig I wouldn't say you should have a problem at all... :-?
-
My Samsung Syncmaster 570B can handle interlaced mode, but it's flickery, and looks like hell.
-
You cannot do it. Plain and simple.
-
it is potentially possible, but it depends on what linerate your TFT will cope with - IIRC the super72 mode runs at about 25KHz line rate - but there are hacks, etc that can improve the situation somewhat, even if its interlaced !
besides, you have an RTG solution - why would you want to ?
-
Yeah, use the voodoo card :)
If you want the old games, get a scandoubler..
-
ModePro (http://aminet.net/package/util/cdity/ModePro) does wonders. Mind you, It also can blow off your monitor.
:hammer: As for your resolution, it also depends on your machine horsepower ; If it's a vanilla unnaccelerated A1200, you will not be able to *double* the amount of pixels displayed just like this...
I saw a lot of HW hacks invloving TFTs, I'd say that those guys know exactly what you can display on a plain ECS (http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=1596=9) or AGA (http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=1657=10) machine on a LCD screen. Should ask them !

I am talking about my A 1200 Desktop, which obviously has no Voodoo card or other RTG solution. It has a 1230/50 accelerator, so I guess I'll give ModePro a try.

Try MonEd to tweak Super72 up to 31KHz.
-
This is why i still prefer CRT for the amiga. I guess you could upsample the picture using a pc with tvtuner or similar though.
But it will probably not be of very good quality either.

I use Super 72 to get 800x600 from my A1200, BUT - this is to a CRT monitor AND I had to tweek several atributes with ModePro to get it working well.

Thanks for your suggestions. Any chance to get an already tweaked Super72 from anyone? (Yeah I know, I'm a lazy guy :-D )
