AmiNetRadio does indeed rule. And the guy who wrote the guide is a genius!

A mistake in the guide. The uade plugin was discontinued before the release of ANR 1.0 as it didn't really work and probably won't ever.

The coder doesn't like being bombarded with mails. If you have suggestions or bug reports, we have a bug tracker at bugs.amigazeux.net (http://bugs.amigazeux.net/) which is by far the best way of reporting bugs efficiently. Or you could drop by #AmigaZeux on zeux.amigazeux.de. Please don't mail, as with the amount of spam currently flying around there's a good chance it might never get read, or a good chance that you are reporting a bug that is already known, or requesting a feature that has already been added (or never will be).

It`s fantastic! I`m in Italy and I use it for hearing greek internet radio stations.

It also has a search by genre, and I found a great station with metal from the `80s  ;-)

dload it! and your Amiga will play internet radio all the time!  :-D

It certainly is, although I haven't seen an update for a while.

Are there updates, plugins or anything in the process for it?

I sometimes worry that if people don't see an update every week they think the project is dead, even if the software is an obviously finished and polished state... I mean, was ANR so buggy that you need an immediate update? ;-)

Development of ANR is continuing as we speak. 1.1 will be released soon and *may* contain an sdk so people can write their own plugins. It also has even better stability and lots of fixes for the little bugs people have reported. You can read our bugtracker to see what ones have been fixed and what new features have been requested and added.

A.org radio would be great!!!.... voice-trolling!!! :P ..ANR does rock and it'd be great to see an A.org radio station... .

And for the benefit of those reading and waiting for an update, I'll list the things requested that ANR will not support in later versions:

- Ogg vorbis support. Unless someone writes an ogg decoder shared lib, that is.

- Filesharing. ANR's index is brought to you via Shoutcast and so ANR will never be a p2p filesharer or an internet search engine.

- Hardware mpeg decoding. ANR relies on getting back decoded data. Since none of the mp3 hardware on available on Amiga seems to do this, ANR cannot use them.

- Native WOS or MOS versions. Unless someone would like to port E to PPC, that is. :-)

- Being made faster. It is already as fast as it can get. If people can't enjoy it with 030 CPUs then sorry. We can't make it any faster.

- Karaoke files. Use songplayer for this. Karaoke doesn't really make sense for a Shoutcast player.

ANR is a fantastic program!

Has anyone tried saving a stream? It works really well, but on the two occasions I used it, it saved the mp3 tags incorrectly (the next songs tags are sent early, so the current song gets the next songs tags.)

Not complaining though. :-) I use it all the time.

Hoya!

Sure it is! We have been testing it for quite some yonks now, unlike every new release of windope... Lol.

Despite all the crap said and all the non-believers, nay-sayers, Amiga STILL rocks and STILL Makes It Possible!

Thank you UG! ;-)

Be funky

M A D (proud #AZ lost soul)

PS: I will release an AOrg skin soon... Stay tuned! ;-)

Hey, now that's pretty sweet... Anyone try it with a stock machine?

I agree! AmiNetRadio is SWEET.
I'm running it on a Pegasos system and it sounds amazing. I do a genre search and I come up with 100 diff. selections! Love it! Good work

The decoding overhead of mp3 is too high for stock machines (if you mean plain vanilla Amigas with no accelerators). Trying with any less than 040/25 is not fun and might not actually be possible. 040/40 at least is recommended, or a PPC to take some of the load off the 040/25 on BPPC/CPPC systems.

But then, this is in the guide, of course... :rtfm:

Amiga.org radio station? Sounds cool ;)

When you finish developing it, you should port it to C (or C++) so that we can have it on our new Amigas (AmigaOne and Pegasos if it has 4.0 support) running natively on the new version of AmigaOS.

It's virtually impossible to do that with a project this size. You underestimate the difficulty in turning E code into C code. If it could be done, we would have done it already.

And as for native OS4 support...you may find that the coder is not on the "Red Side" and will probably never use OS4. If a PPC native version was to come out it would be on MorphOS.
