How much extra to actually receive something purchased from you?

Still waiting for the CD-ROM drive I bought FOURTY EIGHT DAYS AGO.

Does USPS Airmail come via carrier pidgeon these days?

Hopeless.

Hi Shillard,

I accidently ran out of stock on that item and just got some in this last week. I'll be shipping you a new CDROM drive this week, so you should have it at the end of this coming week.

Thanks and sorry for the delay.

Awesome customer service - good of you to let me know, and to respond to the several emails questioning the delay.

I'll believe it when I see it.  Otherwise expect the usual litigious claims to be flying your way.

Magnetic,

I sent this once and it came back with address incorrect and I emailed you what is your current address and have not received a reply. Let me know what your current address is and I'll get it sent out to you.

Thanks.

Hi Carl,

You can purchase one of the Toasters with no problems, it'll be shipped asap this next week or until funds clear.

Thanks.

I purchased two items from Boogiegail, paid for on 12/20 and 12/24.  Twenty-eight days and counting, and no response to emails or messages sent via eBay.

Same thing happened to me.
Bought floppydrive, and paid promptly.
Boogiegail then took two months to send it to me.
Unresponsive to my emails, yet responded to questions sent by my friend relating to another item on ebay..

It's too bad that negatives get more attention than positives, and would like to add some pluses to all the minuses. I've made a couple purchases from Boogiegail with no problems what so ever and intend to make a couple more in the future.

Hmmm, feedback at Ebay isn't that bad. Only 11 dissatisfied out of 500+ transactions. Some thing's wrong though to have a TBC waiting a year when you found Magnetic over here in less than a day. Remember that bad news travels 10 times faster and farther than good.

I've got to say I've bought twice and never had a problem. Both were large ticket purchases as well. Go figure?

It always amazes me the number of complaints about eBay, outside the USA. Most of the things people complain about (money transactions, equipment arrival, working merchandise) can be avoided if you are a cautious consumer and exercise common sense. I have had one problem with ebay, but that was it. It has been a marvelous place to buy and sell things.

The whole thing on ebay is just watch yourself and remember:

1) if it seems out of the ordinary don't agree with it and discontinue the transaction.

2) if it seems to good to be true, it probably is..

3) Using a preferred payer.. Paypal is your FRIEND.. I repeat Paypal is your FRIEND. Money exchanges are difficult enough (currencies etc.) you need to just follow everything to the letter.

4) Don't hesitate to complain long and loud if have a problem to eBay themselves. They are good at helping you solve problems..

One of the negative feedbacks was a user called "Haynie998":

Item promised/never sent, still awaiting refund, can't recommend any longer.

Is that "our" Haynie?

Got me too and never made it up. Never again, I left a neg also. Avoid at all costs no matter what they are selling would be my advice.

@DonnyEMU:

I don't see what this has to do with in or out of the USA? (Magnetic is in NYC)  Are you saying people outside the USA are dishonest or problematic or have problems with English? What are you saying?

I've had transactions inside and outside the US, and never had a problem either way. And frankly most of the complaints seem to be on the US eBay. Looking at other eBays I see Frenchies and Germans and Brits exchanging with very little trickery and problems. Perhaps it's just my faulty memory or my brain's stats cells that are failing, but that's just how I remember it. Ok, I know this was just a hunch on my part, so for fun I did a little test:

1) went to ebay.com (US) and searched for "amiga computer" (subject and content), and narrowed it down to USA only, display size was 100 results
2) went to ebay.co.uk (United Kingdom) and searched for "amiga computer" (subject and content), and narrowed it down to EU only, display size was 100 results

Totals:

1) lowest score was 95.6%, 10x100% 55x99% 12x98% and the rest below
2) lowest score was 98.0%, 53x100% 34x99% 13x98% and no more below

Now before you jump onto any conclusions: this is by far not scientific, simply because many times a dealer with let's say 100% will have 10 items listed in a row. It was also done on a 'snapshot' of the metadata. A true study would use much larger sample sets and would filter/smooth high frequency coefficients. I just did it for fun, even though I have a hunch that overall we have more scum online on this side of the pond. Possibly because eBay has been around longer in the US and has had more penetration and more users. Or other reasons that I do not fully comprehend but have a gut feeling for. Alas, I'm sure eBay knows the numbers though! Would be fun to know :)

Cheers and good luck buying and selling stuff guys!
