Hi all, well, after taking ownership of a load of amiga hard/software the wife has clamped down on how much puter stuff the house can take. So...It's gotta go.
I'm not sure what the value of it all is (I haven't got round to seeing what I have yet) so I thought I'd ask you guys first what the value is and give you first dibs before I shove it all on ebay.
As I said I'm not entirely sure what I've got but here's a quick rundown...
1 a1200 with (I think) a 172mb hd, wb disks (just found them).
1 a1200 with (I think) a 200mb hd, it also has a non standard os, not sure of the name at the moment but I have the original disks plus box etc. A blizzard 1230 (I think) expansion card with extra ram and a 680030 processor and a scsi adapter.
1 a1200 (similar spec to above hd), another blizzard 1230 with a co-processor (68222?) plus 32mb ram and a scsi adapter.
I also have two monitors, an external floppy drive, 2 scsi cd drives a bunch of psu's plus an after market psu with two power outputs on it, a tower case with cables etc, a HUGE amount of books on amiga programming, general amiga use, manuals etc plus boxed games, utilities (wordworth, lots of AMOS stuff etc), "blank" floppies with games/utils etc. oh, and a large amount of magazines with original cover disks and booklets (Amiga User Internation I think).
One of the amigas is boxed with an unused psu, coaxial lead and mouse the others aren't boxed.
Sorry I can't be more specific about what I have but I'm at my brothers at the mo so I can't check.
Anyway, let me know what you think about the value (each or as a lot) and if you're after anything in particular I can have a look to see if I have it.
If it's not worth much I'll kick the wife out and sit and play games all day till the men in white coats come and take me away.
Cheers.

Hope you're keeping _some_ of it. If not, sell the wife :-P

You are not selling all of your amiga stuff i hope? If so, then the regret will give you a heart attack later...
Better keep atleast 1 + a replacement one in case the other one get sick ;-)

Spare wife?...hmmm.
You do know the penalty is TWO mothers-in-law :-D

Get the best Amiga parts you have and build one A1200 using those parts. Keep that one, there should be a way to explain your wife that it is impossible to part with your past: you don't sell off the kids if they take too much space :-)
Then, secretly, build yet another A1200 with the remaining best parts. This one should be for spares ;-). Have a talk with your brother and make the A1200 dis-appear to his home ;-). Make sure no 'prone to leakage parts' are in that system (batteries ...).
The remaining parts can be sold off on e-bay. You could even considder selling it up in parts as that seems to generate more money. Also, choose the eBay country with care! In Germany parts seem dirt-cheap whereas in the Netherlands gold is charged (and collected) for 10+ year old Amiga stuff.
Oh, and don't change wives :-) Just take her out on a good dinner in a nice, little restaurant and make her feel a princess ;-)

Thanks for that guys. Sadly, the wife is right (as usual) it has to go.
We're moving soon and the house is bursting with all manner of electrical equipment (mine) and shoes (the wifes') so hiding the odd a1200 here and a printer there just isn't possible (lack of space/wife has eyes, like the sentinel...)
Seriously though, it just has to go so once i've got a full and accurate list it's all going on the bay.
Interesting comment about the Netherlands spending more on amiga kit than Germany...Will look into that.
Cheers.

Hi,
Just by chance I'll be visiting me Mam in a few weeks who just happens to live in North Newcastle :)
Any chance of those 2 x Blizzard Acellerators and SCSI cards please.
I'm a founder member of Lincolnshire Amiga Group (LAG) and we could sure use them.
I havn't a clue what you want for them, so, please make me a quote.
Kind Regards, Michael

Standard ebay price for an A1230 is £44

Hi, thanks to those who have contacted me re. the amiga bits. As i'm still listing everything I have scattered about the place I'm going to need a bit more time.
I think I will try and keep the amigas as they are i.e. with expansion cards etc and make three good systems out of them.
Once I have that sorted anything else not in the "packs" will be offered here first (I know I have four kickstart chips plus other adapters etc which will need to go seperately).
I'll keep you all posted once I have a list ready.
Thanks.

This is what I would do.
I would see how much your Amiga stuff weigh.
And the take the equal amount in shoes from her and sell them.
You wont feel so bad and you will have more room.

Some Kickstart chips dont have any commercial value unless they are EPROMS or KS3.1
E.G. A1200 & A4000 KS3.0 ROMS have no commercial value at all as everyone already has them.. or better.

How come everytime there is a post about having to sell amiga stuff somehow the subject 'wife' comes with it ?
Come on guys, just buy a cubboard and put all stuff in it.
Don't sell.

Under the thumb!
Show the woman who's boss... make her wash the dishes and do the ironing - in a 1950's apron.

Maybe we need a new thread that discusses all of the gear you've had to get rid of to please the missus.
I am still weeping over having to get rid of my Amiga Format magazine collection a couple of years ago. Can you believe I gave them away to a book sale for charity? Aaarrghhhh....And now you can buy these things on ebay for 3 times the price!

It's not about who is the boss, but who is smarter.
If you have all your stuff nicely placed inside a chest / cubboard / desk than the whole issue would never arise in the first place. Just like playing chess, always see one step more ahead. :)
I've never heared someone say:" Oh my goodness, your room looks so nice, lets clean it up!!"
:-D

But the problems arise when you go to move house and the effort of moving the cupboard / chest / desk becomes an issue for the lady of the house. Particularly if you are downsizing and it becomes a choice between her shoe rack and your cupboard full of Amiga gear!

Amiga Vs Shoes, Daddy Vs Chips, Good Vs Evil...
Sometimes a man has to lay down the law for the good of ... mankind!

Did you try this ?
Just like chess, you have to make an offer sometimes. Offer some of your time to go shopping in a furniture store to buy nice NEW cupboards to fit in the new house to put your stuff in.
Anyway,.. hope you don't have to sell too much if you loose.

choh! wimmin! mines as bad she'd rather I got rid of all my 'junk' as she puts it.
gotta force the compromise, mate! I have two 1200s - one in an A1200 magic pack box on top of the wardrobe, and the other on me desk next tom an AmigaOne. I have one monitor.
actually, she did allow a Peecee into the house (mainly so the kids can play scoobydoo !) but it was a free ancient 450MHz Viglen from my mother.
I have all this stuff (including a brace of speccies and a ZX81) and still have room for 3 children and a wife!
I suggest you keep one A1200, and the best Accelerator.
keep one box and sneak another 1200 in for spares ;-)
keep the disks, and sell any stuff you have dupes of.
