Hi,
What with the recent reappearence of some old users, the thought occurs that the site's veteran old timers ought to return and restore the essential balance that we enjoyed in the good old days.
Too many strangers, unnacustom to our local ways have arrived since the opening of new road!
To that end, where are Meerschaum, Glaucus, FluffyMcDeath, Bobson, KennyR (controversial ), The_Editor, that_punk_guy (not veteran in the chronological sense perhaps, but certainly missed), Kent, Kees, Coder, Vortexau and many other old favourites?
I know some of these guys are active on aw.net of course, but the days of bickering over platform choices are hopefully long gone.
Then there are the 'still here but have little time'. I'm looking at you, Mr. Quist, Mr. Parsons etc ;-)
-
Super idae !! :-D

Crikey, you are quick! ;-)
I hereby add my moniker to the list.
I shall see if MDMA can be re-incarnated too. Afterall he was flirting with Buddhism for a while. ;-)

Great idea Karlos
And hopefully we could have more warm discussions, instead of endlessly talking about Muslims, Bush, etc
-
Haven't seen PMC and T-Bone for a while.
And Seehund and Punk sis and various others. Doomy was funny. I actually miss that guy, but he crossed the line when he ripped people off.
-
Not sure I miss doomy. He was just too much of a ripoff/pirating arsefez.
I think T-Bone frequents whyzzat, but it's a while since I checked.
Where are all these MIA's?

aye we need something non bush or muslim related to happen, so we can talk about that instead.
-
"...hehe! thats the first time I've seen it used without being from X-Rays fingers! welldone number 1!..."
----------------------------------------------------------
Indeed Karlos is the guy who taught me that, and I am eternally grateful for it. Arsefez kills anything else.
Well, almost anything...I am still very fond of 'sneeble-greeber'
-
I forgot about Sneeble-Greeber.
And what was the other fantastic expression you gifted us with?
IIRC, it had sommat to do with folk who bike seats?
-
I thought Sneeble Greeber was the aforementioned ladies bike seat sniffing fiend?
Lung Oyster was another expression that had me chortling a good while. After I'd stopped coughing them up, that is.
-
Karlos wrote:

You're probably right but didn't X-Ray give us another one?
Snog-borgler, or something?
Lung Oyster was another expression that had me chortling a good while. After I'd stopped coughing them up, that is.
Yeah, I'm no stranger to a lung oyster myself.
-
@ Wilse
Yes sir, a sneeble-greeber is a nefarious individual who sniffs girls' bicycle seats. I hear it is the reason why Blobzie doesn't leave her bicycle outside anymore
@ Karlos
Ja, Lung Oyster is a good 'un. I wish I could claim it as my creation but unfortunately that honour goes to a female radiographer.
We should have a list here, of favourite sayings learnt from other members. Arsefez would be top of my list, I love that. I can't picture ever being without it :-)
I like Wilse's 'badger's tadger' too. That's a nice one.
Hmmmm, now you got me thinking......
-
I seem to have picked up "chankin" from Wilse, used to describe bitterly cold weather.
Oh, and I think it was LordDef who came up with the all time mouthful-of-coffee-spraying "wankerishness" when describing the general antics of Doomy.
-
@ Wilse
Yes, now that you mention that, I remember: boffle-wafter!
An unscrupulous woman who sniffs mens' cricket boxes
Actually I have another favourite that I tend to use on colleagues at work: "You are a boil on the edge of a syphilitic dead camel's anus"
That's mine, that is...but it can be borrowed :-D
-
I seem to remember something about a three-week old sub saharan latrine fetid shrimp special, too...
-

That's yer boy, right there! Thank you sir. I was going slowly mad, trying to remember that. :-)
-
@ Karlos
I forgot about that! Yes, that was a fine takeaway discussion. I am sure that originated from one of your legendary curry anecdotes :-)
-
...and just guess what I'm having for supper
-
Well, if I go off air anytime soon, you can all safely assume the anti terror squads arrested me on suspicion of preparing deadly chemical agents for atmospheric dispersal...

Now how to go about re-recruiting all the old timers?

My gutalytic converter seems to have neutralised it. I don't feel the slightest "sink" in the pit of my stomach today.
Pity about the fact I've gone and picked up a cold from someplace. I'm squarely blaming Nicholas after seeing him on Eid.

And he appreciates logic like so few people do.

He rather overstepped the line on more than one occasion with his personal opinion of people not of the same bent as himself though.
His departure from the site is right there in the land of legend, though. How surreal was that?

The one that started it all (http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=1032), except originally it had Kenny's face on there after Bobson's scathing assessment of the Scottish sense of injustice at the hands of the english...

There was a bit of talk towards the end about him and his cadre dabbling in a bit of gay pr0n :-P
-
And also don't forget the way he referred to himself as "the great CU_Amiga!"
There was also that time that some bloke had the same nick on another board, all we heard was two weeks of self-important crap about how someone had stolen the identity of 'the great CU_Amiga (TM)'
-
CU wasn't military spec! :-D
We could go back to tasteless jokes again, you know. We don't need the political discussions; what we need is way to much information about eachother's body functions!
My nipple hair has evolved into a big thick rug now, BTW. I've been drinking too much whiskey...

So, it does put hair on your chest, ey?

Don't worry, Whabang, that is a perfectly normal condition experienced by first-time fathers. It is called Sympathetic Exclusionary Mammary Hypertrichosis and it is there to discourage the infant from attaching to the wrong nipple.

Yeah, just what is it with nose hairs? I mean why are they there? Girlies don't get them (well, I may have dated one or two who have), they just get bikini line issues which are easily concealed and serve to preserve warmth in cooler climes...

Without wishing to hijack the thread, things aren't too bad. I'm job hunting right now and between ladies (as in not seeing anyone, not between ladies literally!). Errrm, that's it really.

"...X-Ray: Have you managed to blag a certain bonnie lady's phone number as of yet..."
--------------------------------------------------------------
Well, the last I heard was that she had a feeling of overpowering nausea upon seeing my facial features on FacesOfAmiga.org (I can't remember which thread it was in but there was a certain 'Shame about the face' comment).
I think there is more chance of me finding a 256mb Fastlane Z3 than getting Blobzie's phone number, but that is okay because I get the impression that my brand of naughtiness is more suited to somebody like Cecilia than the Pictish Princess :-P
And I might add, my son, that if there is any more talk about my romantic misfortunes, I may find myself composing another ode or two ;-)
-
Haha! I rather liked your lovelorn and angst ridden odes, surely such verse is warm enough to thaw the frost of the iciest of hearts?
I have one lady friend in particular who is absolutley lovely in every conceivable way, but whom I know I gross out with my sense of humour, but I really can't help it! You know, you've got to be true to one's own self even if you find knob gags amusing.
I'm a huge fan of la Cecilia's brand of humour, wish more ladies shared it!

Hehe
Actually the odes started because of the "battleraps" thread. That was my first one, because I knew I could do better than that 'fez.
The next one was an ode to Her Blobness, and there were five others after that (one of those also had something to do with Blobzie and a chick with a whip and a revolver).
Some would say 7 odes is enough though
@ Blobzie
Now that I think of the 'good old days' don't I owe you a set of handlebars? Maybe I can make good this Xmas, but only if you've been a good girl :-P

It's like I've never been away!
Say it with Easton bars! How romantic!
BTW, speaking of old threads, remember the speculation as to what Blob carries in her handbag?

Hehe that was a classic too!

I used to think that earwax was uniquely revolting, but I was proved wrong when I started my student training in the gastro X-ray department.
As part of our initiation we were told to sample all the contrast media (basically anything that can be injected/introduced into the body, and which shows up on X-rays). This means all the barium-based stuff as well as the oily and water-soluble iodine media.
And that is the day I discovered the worst one ever. It is a product called Hexabrix and it is exactly like earwax. Imagine having to drink 20ml of that! I only tried a few mls and I wanted to spew. It is guaranteed to make anyone's face screw up like a cat's anus.

I work for Social Services, and one of my colleagues maintain's the county Child Protection register. He told me that people get really angry if you bandy the term 'nonce' around...strange that, as I'm sure I've heard the same people using the words 'sicko', 'pervert', etc.
[These are people who actually get to hear the details of what people put on the register have actually done, so its not THAT surprising!]

I left these pages because of all the religious intolerance bollocks, so it's nice to be back and enjoying not only the humour, but also a reminder of the platform which of course is the reason for us all being here in the first place...

Awww, now *THAT* is some love. I find this thread, by accident and look what I find. I've been around, just not as vocal as before. Kinda runs with the territory.... :-(
Mum lost her fight to cancer in November and Nanna followed in January. Per my mother's request, she was buried in Vancouver, to be close to her remaining family (my half brothers and their families). I took Nanna's ashes, as she requested, and spread them over the Enniskillen countryside, 'cos she wanted to go home. I gave my youngest brother and his wife ('cos they have a newborn) my Mom's old house and moved back to the States.
Of course, *MY* dumbass decided to go see my friends in Texas, before I relocated (again) to Cali and moved here, unknowingly, a week before Hurricane Ike hit Houston.
Yeah, I'm smart.
Thanks again for the love.

I feel I need to get back into my miggy habit. My new PC is a tad too all singing and all dancing and frankly I'm starting to get a bit bored of it doing everything so effortlessly!
I now have hundreds of gigaflops of performance at my fingertips and no real idea what to do with it all
When I've got 300MIPs worth of PPC or even a mere 20 MIPs worth of 040 at my fingertips I seemingly find lots of uses for it.
There's no skill required in coding for the new PC. The most dog awful code imaginable flies on it, even Vista...
-
@Karlos
Sounds like YOU need to do a bit of overclocking ;-)
Recently got my Xeon E3110 to 4GHz, makes for a very speedy Windows XPerience
-
I don't think I'll overclock my Q9450 until they are significantly cheaper to replace. The GTX260 graphics card came pre overclocked by XFX which goes some small way to closing the gap between it and the 280 which was stupidly expensive in comparison.
That said, at 2.66GHz, I have yet to stress the system. It handles Crysis with all settings "Very high" amicably. Under linux, the CUDA n-body simulation pushes 18 billion interactions per second.
Pretty nippy.

I don't think Speel means it literally, it's a reference to the fictional town "Royston Vasey" in the macabre comedy series "The League of Gentlemen".
Basically a small town choc full of inbred weirdos, where the couple (brother and sister) running the local shop have a tendency to take an instant and pathological dislike to anybody "not local". Not long afterwards, the sinister butcher tends to have more "special stuff" for sale.

Hi,
What with the recent reappearence of some old users, the thought occurs that the site's veteran old timers ought to return and restore the essential balance that we enjoyed in the good old days.
Bumpety bump!

That depends on how do you define "active". Wayne still posts from time to time and he created the place. You can't get more first past the post than that.

Speaking of old members, I drew a blank trying to find what happened to T_Bone, especially with him being one of the winners of the recent premium membership give-away. He's not posted on any of the main amiga forums for years. Everybody I've asked seems to have some faded recollection of either an accident or poor health. I hope the guy's OK :(

As far as I can recall, he was in rather poor health, if you are up for it, a bit of digging you may find a post where he claimed to be posting from a hospital workstation and had been in hospital for quite a while. You may also be able to find a post where he claimed to drink something like 2 litres or Coca-cola a day. Either way, I miss his antics :(

Well even a pair of thermal leggings like those should make a noticeable difference. Also, put a long-sleeve t-shirt on under your proper shirt and wear something over the top.
