I remeber using some utilitiy for checking libraries and systemfiles to keep them up to date. And I also recall seeing a website that keps track of the latest versions available.
I tried to search on Aminet, but the utils there were quite old and outdated.
Does anyone have som tip for a good resource for checking system files ?

I use a prog called versionWB 2.16 by Håkan Parting, allthough the program is a bit old it will find the version of just about anything as well as Libs.

As for the website I think there was one for MUI stuff, but, cant remember.

Yes, I tried that. I got a utility LDDcheck from aminet and it seemes like it tries to access that webpage when trying the online update.
I found guy at a german amiga forum telling that a new version was in the works after the previous author resigned. This message was from 2002, but I could not find any follow-up on that.
It seemes like the only way to check this is to manually search aminet and interet for each library, device and mui class to see if more recent versions pop up.

Had a sudden flashback here and the word report came to my mind :)
An aminet search turned out well. ReportPlus seemes to be the program I was thinking about. And it is updated recently too, august 2006. But being behind a proxy server and using WInUAE I havent had the chance to test it yet, cause it need to concect to internet to do the report.

Maybe I posted my happy thoughts to soon... When reading the included amigaguide doc, it looks like it its use is when you have made a fresh OS3.9 install and you can use this utility to make a snapshot report of all your system files and versions. Then this report is stored and you can use it later to check what have changed. Offcourse this could provide useful as well if you install programs that replaces your system file with older ones by accident. But I think this was not what I was looking for after all. I just asumed it had contact with an online database since it says that it will need TCPIP in order to work.
Can anyone which have an online amiga and using ReportPlus comfirm this?

I use report+ on my classic and never need an online connection to a database.
As mentionned in the guide, your create your own database right after a clean install and compare later on to this original and thats all.
use DVC to keep your files up to date.
