Before I go look/bid on eBay for a new CS-PPC, I thought maybe someone here sells one... so anybody want to part with his cs-ppc? :-)
-
It's really difficoult...
I'm trying to buy one too but none seems to be interested in selling such a nice piece of hardware
-
noone eh?
I guess eBay is the only solution...
-
How much are you willing to pay? :-)
-
standar eBay money...
-
keropi so is your CS-PPC not salvageable :-?
-
it is, but I lost interest in fixing it...
-
I have a "spare" cstorm mk3 060/50 w/ 128m 60ns ram that I might be willing to sell for the right price. The card is flawless.
-
Hi, out of curiousity how much would you consider the right price for this card? Also, just to verify this is 68060 only, no PPC right? Thanks in advance!
-
Selling it at all is a big if considering its my only backup should my PPC/060 card encounter problems requiring the services of a certain someone in France. However, I am in the process of moving and frankly could use the money.. I'd need a day or two to think it over, but probably in the $425 range? Honestly the card does have one thing which I consider a flaw. That is the revision of the 060 is not good. I don't even think it has an MMU, possibly not even an FPU. It is a XC68EC060RC60. This should be upgraded to a true "Rev 6" 68060, not the "EC" or "LC" chips. These are (or were) available at AmigaKit for about $80. If not for this one "flaw" I would probably ask an even $500. If I do sell I will even include a sometimes-working (usually not) CybervisionPPC card free. Consider the cvision non-working. Its an early version with only one pci connector, not two (sn: 343).
-
my bppc had a XC68EC060RC60 , it was a cool running 60mhz 060 that had both fully working FPU/MMU
AFAIR there was a cpu labeling "issue" ...
-
Thats interesting. Never heard that before..
-
lol, just plug it and run the wb sysinfo tool... it will tell you...
-
I know.. its my backup card so I never really paid any attention when I had it plugged in. :/
-
I wouldnt recommend upgrading the 68060 on a Cyberstorm MKIII or CSPPC as the sockets they plug into break almost the instant you try to remove it.
-
damn, the cs-ppc I was going to get turned rotten too... so anyone else has one? :-?
-
I am thinking about selling mine.
It is a cyberstormppc 604e 233 and a normal 060 50Mhz.
128 MB simms are fitted.
It also has issues...
That is on startup the ppc is not always been recognised.
Also there is a pin broken off the connector of the cyberstrom.
It is a GND pin so that is not really a problem.
The pin foulded double and when trying to fould it back it broke.
If I coldboot twice/three times the ppc is coming alone nicely.
If I remove the cyberstorm and replace it it comes along nicely in one go.
Already cleaned the contacts, boulted it down try another psu.
The ppc itself is working ok.
Decoding .avi movie which it can't do at full framespeed for an hour with no problem.
Maybe it is a problem on my mobo???

hmm..it doesn't happen to be a DCE CS PPC? ;-)
-
No dce.
I am testing at the moment without extra's seems more stable.
Maybe it is not the cyberstorm which causes these problems.
The card always workes ok so far.

I am still looking for a 233mhz cs-ppc... anyone want to give his/hers? :-D

@Craven1200:
thanks for the links, the mkII is out of the question, and the cs-ppc is faulty, on the description the seller says that the ppc part is dead and leads to crashes when used.

Sorry to hear your CS-PPC died.
I know you were stoked to get it in the first place, and I hope you manage to get it replaced without too much trouble
