Title: 10 Biggest Computer Flops of all time
Post by: Vincent on October 22, 2006, 02:37:02 PM
Old article, but might be interesting.

Haven't read it myself yet (on my way out the door very shortly) but it looks interesting.  Never heard of no 8 before.

Thanks for that!  I was surprised how much the Apple 3 looks like a CBM PET of the era!

Well,ME has worked fine for me,I thought OS/2 was neat ,and  Dr dod and GEM were ahead of MS  but OIBM marketing of the x86 and MS  made it the safe choice for business, and business  could and did invest heavily in a safe solution.Besides Joe Hobbyist and Sue Homemaker couldn't write off their computers on their taxes as copuld business.

I've worked with Windows ME since its release, and I'll tell you there are two type of Windows ME users: those who never get it working stably, and those who never have a problem.  I have never seen a middle ground -- it either works, or it doesn't.  Now, I have seen one which worked and then died right before my eyes.  Amazing operating system.

I don't recall if I mentioned this already or not, so I risk potentially repeating it.  At a recent TechNet seminar (or was it TS2?) the evaluations for the presentation are on a scale of 1 to 10, one of which is best and the opposite worse.  So on the screen they had a PowerPoint slide describing the scale, the worst rating having a label of "Worse than Windows ME."  I laughed so hard I had to take a picture.  (Come to think of it, it might actually be on their website in the presentation slide area...)
