Title: A4000 and Retina BLT Z3 graphics card
Post by: dvvrue95 on September 18, 2006, 01:34:16 PM
I picked up a 4000 with warpdrive, ethernetcard and graphics card. I have manged to get the ethernet card working fine and have the 4000 online via AUI/RJ45 and router. Running AmiTCP and Miami.
Question 1
Now for the graphics card. It seems to have a svga connector and a ps2 connector in addition there looks like a video (coax) connector. can I plug a svga monitor directly into this card? and do I need to have a pc ps2 keyboard connected or is it for the A4000 keyboard? I have downloaded some SW (Retina 2.3 from Amiga.resource) but just wanted to check out the HW connections first.

Question 2 (I know this is really proper to the SW Forum)
I also have a A1200 online via a pcmcia card via the same router as the A4000 and also a PC. At the moment I swap files etc using AExplorer on the PC and on each Amiga. I have installed a copy of NcFTP on both Amiga's in order to try and link them "directly" via the router. But all Iget at the moment when I try and issue a OPEN command i.e.e open 192.1.168.122 is an error message like "no socket available" this is with NcFTP running on both Amiga's.
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong or is there a better suit of progs to enable Amigas to "talk" via Ethernet?

many thanks, Ian.

The PS2 port probably is an S-Video port; so no plugging in keyboards please!

You can attach a standard VGA monitor to the VGA plug.

Read more about your card on www.amiga-hardware.com and amiga.resource.cx

You need to install RTG software to get the card to work.

#1:

You can directly plug your monitor to the vga-connector. No need to worry about those two other connectors. I recommend you to use Picasso96 (Downloads @ http://amiga.serveftp.net/) as a RTG software instead of that Retina 2.3.

#2:

Are you sure you a using correct ip (192.1.168.122 doesn't sound correct). Does ping work between your machines?

Hi sorry about that, IP address should have read :-

192.168.1.122

it was just a typo in this message thread.

The other point which may be important I'm using a downloaded version of ixemul-49.17-m68k which appears to be about 3+Meg when exploded? Due to the way the scsi drive on the 4000 was formatted I dont have enough room for all the ixemul files on my sys: partition so I have just copied over the libs/sys ones (and the l dir file). No such problems with the 1200.

thanks, Ian.

Technically speaking, 192.1.168.122 is a valid IP. However, that is just technically speaking ;)
