Title: WANTED: Buster for a4000 - Would any revision work?
Post by: pedro7 on September 11, 2006, 03:35:53 PM
I am getting an a4000 motherbaord which is missing the super buster (empty socket) so I am looking to find a super buster.
The super buster rev 11 is the best as I understand and supports all the Z3 features.

However I am thinking the cards I have won't need a rev 11:
Powerflyer a4000 - doesn't use DMA? I think this was designed to work on all Z3
Cybervision 64/3d - is a Z2 card and so buster revision shouldn't matter.

So I'd like to ask
1) Are my assumptions correct? Could I use any super buster, ie a rev 7 from an a3000 or a rev 9?
2) Does anyone have a super buster they could sell me?

I am in the UK.

Those prices all seem bit high. I was hoping that someone would have a spare older revision that I could get cheaply secondhand.

@Pedro7:

SuperBuster rev 7 is not usable in the A4000, it is made for the A3000. Cards will sortof half-work, sometimes, very unpredictable.

The powerflyer doesn't use DMA because it is made not to support DMA to save costs - in short a el-cheapo card with el-cheapo performance.

The CV64/3d is a autosensing Zorro2/3 card, so in a Z2 Amiga it is a Z2 card and in a Z3 Amiga it is a Z3 card.

You are joking right? £17+postage from Vesalia? It Dont get much cheaper mate. Not in the second hand Amiga hardware world.

How much did you pay for your A4k motherboard?
