Title: PDAa Recommendation for Amiga Emulation
Post by: r0jaws on September 08, 2006, 01:04:17 PM
Hi Guys,
I'm after some advice.
I'm looking to spend about £100 on a PDA, which can;
Use removable Storage Media,
Read eBooks,
Connect wirelessly or via bluetooth,
Play some amiga games (emulated obviously)
play mp3s,
Am I hopelessly optimistic or is there something out there that can meet my needs?

Anything with an XScale over 400Mhz should do the job nicely!

My HP iPAQ 4150 was great at running PocketUAE!

Hm, not sure about this but it should be possible if you buy a used device... My only advice is not to buy an Ipaq H3870 as my personal experience is that PocketUAE does not work on it (At least not with WM 2002 that comes with that device). The rest works fine though. BTW: The best mp3/ogg/video player for windows mobile IMHO is TCPMP (http://tcpmp.corecodec.org).
If you are into Linux, you might also want to try to install that.  (http://www.handhelds.org) There is an UAE port for Familiar, but I can't tell you if it works well.

just grabbed a 2nd hand Axim x50v, it has a 624mhz xscale cpu, 640x480 screen and dedicated 16MB 3D acceleration gfx, I think intel 2700G chipset...
but playing amiga games? with the stylus? or the small buttons? I think it will be lame lol unless u play rpg/adventures...

Thanks for the info guys, You've certainly helped narrow down what I'm looking for. I think I may be able to do it with a little hunting and a bit of work.  :-D
